This month, Bucks Happening is celebrating the holidays by bringing you the 12 Days of Christmas! Each weekday from December 1st through December 16th, we'll cover something amazing about the holiday season in Bucks County- sites to see, happening holidays events, the best local gifts, and all sorts of other goodies.
With “6 Geese-a-Laying,” we celebrate the bounty of Bucks County, a gift shared among friends and family throughout the holiday season.
Organizations such as the Heritage Conservancy work hard to preserve local farmland so that we can enjoy amazing fresh food and support local farmers. Groups such as Winter Sun Farms and Doylestown Coop make eating local simple with organized distribution channel.
Did you know that Iron Chef, Jose Garces, owns a 40-acre farm in Tinicum called Luna Farms, which he uses to supply fresh produce to his Philadelphia restaurants? Check out his food truck, Guapos Tacos, which regularly makes appearances at the Quakertown Farmer's Market.
The Doylestown Food Co-op is proud to announce a local community screening of FRESH, a feature documentary film by Ana Sofia Joanes that celebrates the food architects around the country who are boldly reinventing our food system with sustainable agriculture initiatives. Join DFC for a screening of Fresh, the Movie on December 8th. They've partnered with Heritage Conservancy and Bucks County Foodshed Alliance to bring you this event at the beautiful Aldie Mansion. Doors open at 6:30.
The evening will include a Q&A session with Co-op Board members, light refreshments for sale, raffle baskets (with chances for free tickets!) and co-op membership sign-ups. Tickets can be conveniently purchased online for $11.75.
Did you know that Emmy award-nominated director Robert Kenner, creator of the movie Food, Inc., attended High School at Solebury School in New Hope (check out our exclusive interview here)?
