The People’s Store Art Show with Special Reception 10/14 from 4pm-8pm

Eleanor Voorhees and Kelly Sullivan, two local working artists, are well known for their open and inspiring studios on the “other 3rd floor” of The People’s Store in Lambertville.  The artists are hosting their 5th annual Fall reception on October 14th – from 4pm – 8pm. Eleanor’s local landscapes and the colorful quirky cityscapes she’s known to paint will be on display, but her recent mixed media work is bold and even more playful, as she’s been experimenting with found objects, such as vintage buttons and flea market jewelry, to old pencils and paintbrushes to create the substrate for her wild cityscapes. These new works are almost 3D in nature and are filled with color and texture.

Kelly Sullivan, well known for her evocative portrait work as well as her collaborative FingerSmears will be offering an experimental, do it yourself FingerSmear project where guests will be able to collaborate on one piece of art – all weekend.  The experiment will test out her new theory for her upcoming FingerSmear Kit.  She will also invite guests to collaborate digitally in her new Paint.Team application to benefit the local food bank.  In addition to Kelly’s open invitation to collaborate throughout the weekend, visitors will see a new series of her oil paintings, many focused on a theme of Pathways.

Both Kelly and Eleanor have recently returned from separate trips to Italy, and visitors will surely see that influence in their new works as well.  It’s s real treat to meet the artists and see their light filled airy spaces with a bird’s eye view of Lambertville.   Entrance to their galleries is from the 2nd floor of the People’s Store, or from their private entrance with red door, on Church St.
