Allison Patterson Harris and Amir Shawn Fairdosi were married March 20, 2016 at the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown.

In addition to planning the picture perfect wedding, Allison is a predoctoral fellow currently studying at the University of Pennsylvania as part of the doctorate in political science she has been pursuing at the University of Chicago.

Hear about this picture perfect Doylestown wedding from our Bride of the Month, Allison Harris:

How did you and your now husband meet?

Allison: We met in graduate school in Chicago where we were both pursuing (and completed!) doctorates in political science. We met during my first year (he was a few years ahead of me), but we didn’t start dating for almost three years. We became friends after he presented a paper at a workshop I was running, and then we bonded over marathons of The Walking Dead.

Tell us about your wedding location and why you chose it!

Allison: We got married and had our reception at the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, PA. We wanted to have a wedding weekend in my parents’ adorable town with a variety of opportunities to spend time with our family and friends. So, we focused on finding wedding venues within a thirty minute drive of their home. When we saw the reception space at the Michener, we knew right away that we wanted to get married there. I tend to prefer simple, elegant decorations, so I love reception rooms that are interesting and beautiful on their own. The reception room at the Michener has three glass walls, and behind one of those walls is a gorgeous stone wall. The wall is lit at night, and the scene is breathtaking.

What was your favorite moment from the day of your wedding?

Allison: There were so many! However, the ceremony was very special. The seats were organized in the round. It was an amazing feeling to stand together surrounded by our family and closest friends. Also, standing in the middle of a packed dance floor watching all of our guests party was the best.

Which of these pictures is your favorite and why?

Allison: I have two favorites. First, the beautiful portrait our photographer captured of us leaning against the outside of the glass wall. I could tell after she took that picture that it was going to be gorgeous, because she had a huge smile on her face. Second, the black and white shot of us leaving at the end of the night. We were happy and exhausted, and I had no idea she was taking it at the time. It was such a lovely surprise to see it in the gallery!

You wore “Maisie,” a Blush gown by Hayley Paige, paired with “Mika” for the ceremony and a beaded top by Jenny Yoo. How did your dress make you feel?

Allison: Beautiful and glamorous! I don’t even know where to begin, because I loved it so much. The women at La Belle Mariee made the dress shopping process (which I had not enjoyed previously) so much fun.
