After being cooped up at home this week due to Frankenstorm, there will be extra cause to celebrate something much sweeter this weekend- the local apple season harvest!  Peddler’s Village Annual Apple Festival is taking place on Saturday, November 3, and Sunday, November 4, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m, rain or shine.

Dig into a scrumptious selection of all things apple from crisp apple fritters, apple pie and apple dumplings with warm vanilla custard sauce to apple doughnuts, apple cakes, apple turnovers, caramel apple bread, and more from Village restaurant booths and Town Crier Bakery, the scratch bakery in Peddler’s Village. Enjoy homemade candy and caramel apples from Skip’s Candy Corner.

Sample green, golden and red delicious apples from local Bucks County orchards, Fairview Farm of Pineville and Active Acres of Newtown, and take home a bushel of your favorite! Sip a warm cup of locally produced apple cider and sample some Pennsylvania Dutch apple butter while you watch authentic demonstrations of cider production in an antique cider press and old-fashioned apple butter cooking in a huge cauldron.

Once stomachs are satisfied, enjoy the live musical entertainment throughout the Village. Shop the unique handcrafted items at the artisan booths on the Street Road Green that include folk art, jewelry, pottery, clothing and leather creations, hand blown and fused glass, birdhouses and furniture.

Each afternoon, cheer on the brave contestants in the traditional pie eating contests. The Apple Pie Eating Contest, held at 3 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, provides lots of laughs and prizes for winners.  Competitions are held in these age categories — 10 and under, 11-14 and 15 and up.  Contestants are chosen by lottery and must sign up from 10 a.m.-2: 45 p.m. at the Hospitality Booth on the Main Green. The weekend entertainment includes:
