If you have been in Bucks County for a while, I'd venture to guess that you no longer realize how many barns are around. They simply melt into the landscape, as normal as a stop sign or Starbucks on the corner for other towns across the nation. But when you stop and really look, the beauty and character that the barns of Bucks County bring to the scene are really breathtaking, and help to distinguish our area to others.
As we highlighted in our weekly guide to Bucks post yesterday, the Barns of Distinction Tour, hosted by the Bucks County Audubon is this weekend. It is a self guided your; we'd suggest buddying up with others to drive around. The barns are mostly in Central and Upper Bucks, and range vastly in style and usage. Some barns are being renovated into luxury living with all the modern advantages of a normal house. Others have been restored and preserved in it's natural beauty. Still others are still functioning.
