Zanya Spa Salon in Lambertville offers full-spectrum infrared sauna sessions.

As much as we try to avoid it, life sometimes catches up with us in ways that leave us feeling less than our best. Stress, aging, illness, sometimes it's simply genetics. Luckily, these beauty trends can help you get your groove back. We're here to tell you a bit more about each treatment and where you can go in Bucks County to experience them for yourself.

IV Hydration/Vitamin Drip

What is it?

Made popular by celebrities like Madonna and Rihanna, IV hydration therapy is the fastest, most efficient way to bring vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, and hydration right to your cells. It's minimally invasive, and unlike with oral supplements, there’s no GI metabolism. This allows for increased absorption.

What are the benefits?

IV Hydration Therapy works by rapidly replenishing the body with fluids, electrolytes and vitamins, negating many of the symptoms of dehydration, illnesses and other ailments. (Think jet lag, hangovers, stress and more!) This can result in a stronger immune system, increased energy, decreased body aches and nausea and brighter skin.

Where to go?

The medical team at La Chelé Medical Aesthetics in New Hope (our 2019 Happening List Winner for MedSpa) are highly trained and experienced in IV treatments for moderate dehydration and vitamin depletion. It is completely clean, sterile and relaxing! Choose to receive your treatment in a communal lounge or in a private room. La Chelé has a full IV Drop Menu to choose from based on your symptoms and needs.

Bonus: If IV treatment isn’t for you, the medical team at La Chelé has created a new service called MicroVita™ Infusion. This proprietary infusion of skin-loving vitamins is designed to enhance the quality of your skin and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. With use of the LC Stamp device, micro-injections of this proprietary mix of vitamins will be infused into the skin for ultimate plumping and rejuvenation. The LC Stamp device uses tiny micro-needles that are finer than a piece of human hair – you can barely feel it! Try it on your face, neck or decolletage.

Scalp Micro-Pigmentation

What is it?

Scalp micro-pigmentation (SMP) is a safe and effective hair loss solution. The non-surgical treatment camouflages thinning, bald or scarred areas of the scalp by precisely placing pigment in the skin to replicate hair follicles.

What are the benefits?

This groundbreaking treatment can be a long-lasting solution for Alopecia areata, male and female pattern baldness, thyroid related hair loss, and scar concealment from a surgery or trauma. It can be used to create a natural shaven look, or provide a dense background to existing hair strands. The pigmented impressions are designed to blend into your natural hair pattern, giving the illusion of a fuller head of hair.

Where to get it?

Dermagrafix Permanent Cosmetic Studio in Doylestown offers both SMP and Tricopigmentation. Tricopigmentation is a more temporary option that’s similar to SMP, but it uses an organic pigmentation that will break down in a couple of years.

Valerie Weber, the Owner of Dermagrafix has been practicing medical micro pigmentation and scalp pigmentation since 2001. Weber researches top providers to be the educators for her elite team of practitioners. She and her staff are Guru Certified, SPCP, AAM, CPCP certified and keep up on regular continuing education to stay on top of this competitive industry.

Infrared Sauna

What is it?

An infrared sauna is a type of sauna that uses light to create heat. While a traditional sauna uses heat to warm the air, which in turn warms your body, an infrared sauna heats your body directly without warming the air around you.

The appeal of saunas in general is that they cause reactions similar to those elicited by moderate exercise, such as vigorous sweating and increased heart rate. An infrared sauna produces these results at lower temperatures than a regular sauna. This makes it accessible to people who can't tolerate the heat of a conventional sauna.

What are the benefits?

Radiant heat penetrates deeply into your joints, muscles and tissues increasing oxygen flow and circulation. This provides muscle and joint pain relief and eases stiffness. The infrared sauna increases the production of white blood cells, providing an immune system boost. And the extra sweating and pumping of blood burns calories, increases your metabolism and helps ride the body of accumulated toxins. Perhaps best of all? It’s incredibly relaxing!

Where to get it?

Zanya Spa Salon in Lambertville offers full spectrum infrared sauna sessions. Their sauna is designed for two, so you can enjoy your session with a friend, family member or partner at no additional cost. (Think Girls’ Day or Day Date!)

In addition, Zanya’s infrared sauna has color light therapy, a technique of restoring balance by means of applying color to the body. Choose a color based on your needs. Click here for more information.

Salt Caves/Halotherapy

What is it?

If you’re at all into wellness, you’ve probably been hearing about the benefits of salt lamps in your home and how to enjoy the benefits of clean salt air without packing up and moving Oceanside. For centuries, monks used naturally-occurring salt caverns to treat respiratory ailments. The practice is now known as Halotherapy. Today’s manmade salt caves replicate the experience by creating saltrooms with walls and floors made of Himalayan salt and a salt vapor machine that pumps pharmaceutical grade dry aerosol salt vapor.

What are the benefits?

Salt is known to be anti-bacterial, mucolytic (loosens mucus and phlegm) and anti-inflammatory. Breathing salt vapor takes the healing properties of salt deep into the respiratory system. Halotherapy can improve asthma, migraine headaches, sinusitis, allergies, Cystic fibrosis, arthritis and more. What’s more? It’s a great excuse to just sit back and relax.

Where to go?

The Salt Cave in Doylestown is a 2019 Happening List Finalist for Day Spa. Their salt caves consist of nearly 5,000 pounds of pink Himalayan salt, with the floors even being a bed of pink salt. Sessions are 45 minutes long, and their zero gravity recliners are so comfortable, you’ll wish you had one at home. Grab a pillow and a blanket if you like, listen to the meditative music, and just let the salt work its magic. Bonus: The Salt Cave offers kid-friendly sessions twice a week if you have a little one that could benefit. Find out more here.

Float Spa/Flotation Therapy

What is it?

Think about that incredible weightless feeling you get when you’re floating in the ocean. Now, imagine getting that feeling without worrying if Jaws is somewhere out there, or if a wave might come crashing into you at any moment.

The practice of flotation therapy was first developed at Harvard in 1954, and John C. Lily created the first float tank in the 1960s. It is achieved by dissolving thousands of pounds of Epsom salt into 95 degree water. The human body is naturally buoyant in this solution, meaning you don’t need to know how to float, or how to swim, you just do. Picture an ice cube in a glass. Floating tanks or pools are meant to provide both a weightless and sensory deprived environment. By making the environment sound and light proof, you can float with no sensory input. You’re able to let go completely, enabling deep states of relaxation.

What are the benefits?

Flotation tanks suppress your ‘fight or flight’ response and activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for relaxation, healing and replenishment. This can result in decreased muscle tension, blood pressure and stress hormones, and increased endorphins.

Flotation therapy can be used for insomnia, pain management, increased immune function, meditation, and more. It’s also great for your skin!

Where to go?

Relax: Float Spa in Doylestown is the 2019 Happening List Winner for Day Spa. Their Float Rooms are each in a uniquely designed suite. Don’t worry about feeling trapped or claustrophobic! Unlike a float tank or pod, Relax’s custom-built Float Rooms are specially designed to be more open, modern, and inviting. There is no lid to close over top of you, and you step into the Float Room through a normal door within your private shower – like relaxing in your own oversized, personal bathtub. Plus, the private suites also feature your own shower and dressing space. Find out more here.
