1st Friday Night Fireworks
The sky will be lit with fireworks throughout the Independence Day holiday (read on) but be sure to also mark your calendars for the 1st Friday Fireworks on July 7th!

Where: Over the Delaware River River Road in New Hope
New Hope & Lambertville will host the kickoff to its 3rd season of Friday Night Fireworks, happening on the 1st Fridays of each month. This dazzling event, put on by the Delaware River Towns Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau enchants viewers as they watch and express their delight in the universal fireworks language of “Ooohh…..ahhhhh.”

Join us for an Old-Fashioned Community Picnic starting at 6 PM. Attendees are invited to bring their own dinner, picnic supplies and lawn games. Prizes will be awarded for Most Creative Picnic Display, Most Delectable Menu, and Best in Show.
At 8 PM, Broad Street Brass will hold a free concert featuring patriotic music and other selections. The day will end with a spectacular firework’s show at 9 PM. All activities will be held in the large field across River Road and diagonal to the park’s Visitor Center.

Family Fun at Washington Crossing Park
10am: Geocaching 101 – Free but registration is required at WashingtonCrossingPark.org/events. Meet at the Visitor Center. Limited to 10 families.
1pm: Wildlife Olympics for Kids, ages 4 – 12 – Free, no registration is required. Meet in the large field diagonal from the Visitor Center and across River Road.
3pm: Family bike ride on the canal towpath – Free, no registration is required. Meet at the General Sullivan pavilion behind the Thompson-Neely House (1638 River Road, New Hope, Pa.). The ride will be approximately 8 miles. Bring your own bikes.

Fonthill’s Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration

Enjoy a day of family fun, food, old-fashioned games, crafts, entertainment and live music, with the visual splendor of Henry Mercer’s estate as the backdrop. Join in the watermelon eating contests, sack races, tug-o-war, bucket brigade relays, town ball (an early form of baseball), the cake walk, wheelbarrow races, hobby horse races, and more.
You can also sit back and enjoy some stirring good old-fashioned patriotic music or participate in a craft activity. A selection of vendors including Happy Snacks, Big Poppa’s BBQ, and Sweet Pea Ice Cream will be offering a variety of summertime snacks and treats, or you may bring your own picnic and spread a blanket on Fonthill’s grounds.
The day’s festivities kick off with the Children’s Decorated Bike Parade at 12:30 p.m., as kids are invited to take the traditional ride over bubble wrap down Fonthill’s tree-lined driveway. Prizes will be awarded for the most dressed up bikes in the categories of “most patriotic,” “most original,” and “most dynamic.”
Enter Fonthill’s 2nd Annual Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Pie Baking Contest. Pies will be judged on 75 percent taste and 25 percent appearance. First, second and third prizes will be awarded. Professional bakers may not enter. Download the rules and registration information here.
Other activities throughout the day include dog agility demonstrations with the Kruisin’ Kanines, storytelling with Robin Moore in front of his teepee, antique bike demonstrations with the PA Wheelman, and music with the Bucks County Country Gentlemen, Del Val Saxophone Quartet, and Galena Brass Brand.
Fonthill Castle will also be open for abbreviated tours. The separate admission fee for tours is: $3 adults, $2 seniors, $1 youth and free for members with membership card.
Parking on the grounds is free. Heavy rain cancels the event.

Scoogies Firecracker 5k

This FIRST EVER family friendly Wednesday evening running event at The Market at DelVal is not to be missed!
This VERY festive family event will consist of the Scoogie’s Firecracker 5k, 1 Mile Bottle Rocket & 1/2 Mi Kid’s Sparkler Run OR challenge yourself and try the Atomic Firecracker (which is the 1-Mile Bottle Rocket Run at 6:45 and then run the Firecracker 5K at 7:00!!!) The 1 Mile Bottle Rocket is a FUN RUN but you are welcome to take it as serious as you’d like because we are TIMING IT with ChronoTrack Timing!! There are awards for top three overall but no age group awards for the 1 Mile Bottle Rocket Run. There is no combined timing for the Atomic Firecracker and there are no awards. But, Should you choose to run the Atomic Firecracker, you will receive your time for both races individually.
