Welcome to November!  With Halloween behind you, there are just a few weeks to relax before the big holiday season arrives. Get out this weekend and enjoy the last few weeks of mild autumn weather. There is always something fun and exciting to do around Bucks.

The 28th annual Lydia’s Guild Fine Art & Craft Show is running now through November 10th at the Heritage Conservancy's historic Aldie Mansion in Doylestown. Lydia’s Guild features a unique collection of fine arts and crafts creations from 90 talented artisans, including seasonal floral, pottery, woodworking, jewelry, country primitives, fiber crafts, gourmet food items for holiday entertaining, as well as gift ware and home décor, both casual and formal. Admission is $4 and a portion of the proceeds with benefit a variety of charities. Show times are: Thursday and Friday 9:30am-8pm, Saturday 9:30am-5pm, Sunday 12noon-5pm, Monday and Tuesday 9:30am-8pm and Wednesday 9:30am-5pm. The Bucks County SPCA will be hosting the 2nd annual Black Cat 5k and  1 mile Fun Walk on Saturday, November 6th beginning at 8:30am at Peace Valley Park in New Britain. Runners are invited to participate in the professionally timed Black Cat 5K race, while walkers, animal lovers and their four-legged friends can enjoy the non-competitive walk. Awards will be given to the overall male and female winners of the 5K and to the top three male and female 5K finishers in each age group. The entry fee for the 5K race is $25 and for the 1 Mile Fun Walk is $10. Preregistrater online at www.active.com or www.bcspca.org or call Heidi Laubach, Race Director, at 215-900-4599. Then Thursday, November 11th, head over to the SPCA event at the Freight House in Doylestown and enjoy THREE hours of open bar (man's other best friend), appetizers and games to support the Bucks County SPCA. Tickets are $40 and must be purchased in advance.

Explore Fonthill Museum with a Behind the Scenes Tour on Saturday, November 6th from 7-9pm. This popular tour travels up Fonthill's tower and down through back passages.  Visit portions of the castle not on the regular daytime tour including the Kitchen, Servant's Quarters, Basement and the Terrace Pavilion. After walking with man's best friend at the SPCA walk, visit a girls best friend at the 2nd annual Gem Show, November 5th from 3-7pm and November 6th from 2-5pm at the Diana Vincent Jewelry Design store in Washington Crossing. You're invited to view a wide selection of gemstones and handmade carvings from all over the world.  They will also work with you to create a custom designed piece of wearable art with any gemstone you choose. Light refreshments will be served and this event is free. The gemstones will be available for the entire month of November.

On Thursday, November 11 from 7-8:30pm esteemed beer writer Lew Bryson (a Newtown native!) will be at Isaac Newton's for an in-house signing of his newly- released fourth edition of Pennsylvania Breweries. On hand providing tasty samples will also be a representative from Weyerbacher Brewing in Easton. To round-out the PA theme, they'll be featuring a minimum of 8 PA beers on draft.
