Villanova junior guard Ryan Arcidiacono, of Langhorne, is  launching into the new season, placing second in scoring for the team's season-opening win over Lehigh on November 14th at the PPL Center in Allentown. After trailing 48 to 43 with less than 15 minutes left to play, the Wildcats pulled away from the Mountain Hawks in the final 10 minutes of the second half thanks to a series of turnovers.

One of six children of Patti and Joe Arcidiacono, Ryan's athletic talent is in his blood.  His father, Joe Arcidiacono, was an offensive lineman for the Wildcats football team from 1976 to 1980.  Back in high school, Ryan led Neshaminy High School's team to a PIAA Class AAAA tournament as a sophomore. He tallied 1,498 high school career points, despite missing his senior year due to a herniated disk in his back. Still, scouts took notice, and Ryan was ranked among the Top 50 seniors in the nation by ESPNU, and soon signed a national letter of intent to attend Villanova in November 2011.

As a freshman at Villanova, Ryan was the unanimous choice to the BIG EAST All-Rookie team and was named Rookie of the Week four times. Last season, Ryan was named “Honorable Mention All-BIG EAST” and second team All-Philadelphia Big Five. Ryan has scored 742 points in his first two seasons as a Wildcat, and after his recent performance in Lehigh, there is no slow down in sight for this talented upper classman.
