On Friday night, The BlackTails take the stage at Puck in Doylestown. The BlackTails play a seamless
fusion of covers and original material. They marry standards like Duke
Ellington’s “Caravan” with vocal harmonies a la Jane’s Addiction and Alice
in Chains as well as reinventing classic Film Noir / T.V music themes from
Henri Mancini’s “Peter Gunn” to Schifrin’s “Mission Impossible” with an
updated twist and emphasis on improvisation. They pay tribute to Santana,
Miles Davis and Dick Dale with original tunes, “Santa Anna”, “Lou’s
Misery”, and “Limes ‘n’ Cherries”. With musical influences as varied as
American Roots Music to West Coast Swing, Latin, Surf Rock & Electric
Blues, The BlackTails serve up a high energy get-up-and-groove live show.

On Friday, December 9th, from 6pm to 8pm, kick-off the Holiday season with Bucks County SPCA in Lahaska! Take a tour of our shelter or stop by and enjoy some light refreshments. Holiday gifts, including Pet Art, will be available. Be sure to visit Santa's Mailbox to see what our furry friends are wishing for this year. Don't forget to have your photo taken with Santa Paws.

Embrace the chill in the air with a performance of The Snowman on Saturday, December 10th at 1pm at Bucks County Community College in Newtown, PA.  A beautiful and enchanting fifty-five minute production for all ages.  With The Newtown Chamber Orchestra, Celtic Flame Irish Dancers, Kristen Scott Soloist, Spirit in Motion Ballet Theater, and narration with Bliss Michelson from WWFM 89.1 FM   $24 Children (under 3 can sit on lap for free) VIP $50

Susan Apollon, an award winning author, psychologist and spiritual counselor will be conducting a book signing at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Barnes & Noble, The Court at Oxford Valley, 210 Commerce Boulevard, Fairless Hills, PA.  Apollon will be in the front of the store signing copies of her latest book Touched by the Extraordinary, Book Two: Healing Stories of Love, Loss & Hope. For those who are interested, Apollon will be sharing her insights and stories that can help heal individuals going through tough times, needing hope, or looking for inspiration.

Historic Holiday Fun:

Saturday evening, head to the historical Fonthill Castle in Doylestown for Fonthill Holiday Lights Meander from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Meander at your own pace through Henry Mercer’s unique castle home to enjoy the seasonal decorations – candles, Christmas trees, and greens throughout.  Live music and light refreshments complete your festive evening.  Registration required.  $15 per ticket.  Call 215-348-9461 for more information.

Celebrate a Victorian Christmas all weekend long with the New Hope Historical Society.

On Sunday, December 11th the Historic Craven Hall in Warminster takes a look at holiday's past from 12pm to 4pm.  The Open House will feature open hearth cooking demonstrations as well as story-time and special activities for children. Plus, rumor has it that Santa and Mrs. Claus will be making a special appearance around 2:00 p.m! Interpreters in period costumes will conduct tours of the historic building, which will be decorated in full holiday splendor. Guests will receive complimentary hot mulled cider from an early colonial recipe. Brunswick stew and other refreshments will be available for purchase. Admission to the Open House is complimentary. However, donations are always graciously accepted.
