On Saturday, October 24th, 2015, a long-standing tradition of Pumpkinfest continues amidst the archways of the Moravian Pottery & Tile Works in historic Doylestown.

Continuing the tradition, Pumpkinfest 2015 will showcase 18 area artists who carve out enormous 100- 300 lb pumpkin squash into glowing masterpieces which take the artists up to six hours to sculpt, carve, and bring to life.

This drug and alcohol-free countywide event attracts people from all regions to witness the magic and transformation of these giant gourds into illuminated spectacles. Kids of all ages are encouraged to attend the celebration of Pumpkinfest.

The Trauger Family Farm in KIntnersville provided the enormous “prizewinner” pumpkins for the pumpkin gallery.

For the third year, CB Cares Educational Foundation is proudly presenting Pumpkinfest in partnership with the Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation. Their work as an ATOD (alcohol, tobacco and other drugs) prevention organization is “carved” out for the organization. The month of October is National Substance Abuse Prevention Month and October 25th – 31st is Red Ribbon Week for school-age children in our community. Both of these national initiatives emphasize the importance of avoiding drug and alcohol use and correlate with Pumpkinfest with good reason.

New in 2015 is

  • A Youth Pumpkin Gallery featuring carved pumpkins by CB high school art students in the National Art Honor Society will compete for the top prize of the “Newfield” Award named in memory of CBSD art teacher Kristen Newfield.
  • Gourdy B, CB Cares Drug-free hero, will make his first personal appearance to greet children as they frolic in the inflatable amusement garden and enjoy the pony rides.
  • Weather permitting the outdoor movie in the meadow will be “Frankenweenie,” a uniquely animated film directed by Tim Burton, about a boy who brings his dog Sparky back to life. The grounds open to the public at 2 pm.

Admission is $20/carload.

Families will enjoy amusements in the inflatable amusement garden*, pony rides*, Youth 2 Community performances and this year’s outdoor featured movie, Frankenweenie. The Doylestown Heat jazz band will takes center stage at 7:30 pm to warm the autumn air. Come for the day to enjoy the music, food and fun. Stay till the pumpkins are aglow and the popcorn is popping.
