Bucks County’s lush landscape boasts over 900 farms responsible for farmer’s markets brimming with fresh fruits and vegetables, wine tasting rooms and craft brew pubs. But did you know that several area farms specialize in growing only cut flowers? As part of the agricultural environment, teeming with blooms in a rich array of color and fragrance, these farms are part of the landscape that makes Bucks County a beautiful place to live, work and enjoy some of the simpler things in life.
Here we feature four farms that raise flowers using responsible farming practices, refraining from the use of chemical pesticides. They offer their flowers to the public and wholesale to florists for use in weddings and special events. Their unique blooms will create stunning statements for your next event or brighten up your home on a dreary day.
Blossom Hill Flowers – New Hope
Blossom Hill Flowers operates on the same property as Roots to River Farm, an organic vegetable farm and CSA located near the banks of the Delaware River. Blossom Hill focuses on growing a wide variety of specialty cut flowers for the farmers market, wholesale buyers, and their floral design service. Purchase individual bouquets at the Farm Market in Titusville, NJ, Sundays, 11 am to 2 pm. Wholesale inquiries can be made through the grower’s website. Interested in design services for a wedding or special event? Blossom Hill will create pieces that incorporate native seasonal blooms to complement the tone of your function. Contact them online to see how they can make your occasion special.
Laughing Lady Flower Farm – Doylestown
The Laughing Lady Flower Farm has been growing specialty cut flowers in Bucks County for nearly 20 years. They work directly with brides as well as with florists on the wholesale level. Brides can utilize their full design services or purchase bulk flowers and foliage for a do-it-yourself wedding. The Farm Studio on the property is also available for hourly rental for the DIY bride. Owner Kate Sparks will set up the studio with everything you need to make your own bouquets and table arrangements. No need to worry about clippers, wire, tape, floral pins, flower food, etc. (BYO containers!) Kate will also answer your questions and will pack and store your arrangements for up to three days in a cool environment until the big day.
The Farm also specializes in unusual and hard-to-find varieties of flowers and they are happy to custom grow any flowers that florists might have difficulty sourcing locally.
Peace Valley Lavender Farm – Doylestown
As the name suggests, this farm focuses on one thing – lavender. Located across from Peace Valley Park near Doylestown, this fragrant farm has over 3,000 lavender plants blooming on its hillside. Plants are harvested, dried or processed for a large variety of uses including bath & body soaps and lotions, culinary products, dried floral arrangements, sachets & pillows and essential oils. Purchase products online through the farm’s website or visit the farm store, open Thursday through Sunday or by appointment.
Rising Hill Farm – Ottsville
Rising Hill Farm is a small, family owned and operated business that specializes in growing cut flowers for the “socially and environmentally conscious consumer.” Owner Amber Lagonegro is passionate about growing crops using sustainable systems and helping native plants and insects, especially pollinators, thrive. All their design pieces consist of flowers or foliage either grown or foraged on the farm. Rising Hill offers a variety of services including bulk buckets for the DIY bride, individual design pieces or a full-service wedding. Amber is happy to work with individuals or florists, so contact her through the website with any questions.
