This past weekend, Citadel celebrated its big move into Bucks County with a grand opening event at their new location at 836 W. Street Road, Warminster. The popular local credit union – which has locations in Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties – views the opening of a location in Bucks County as an extension of their core values – to help customers with their financial wellbeing. A credit union offers all the same services as a bank but operates as a not-for-profit organization, designed to serve its customers as the core members rather than stockholders.

“We had an opportunity to look at various sites within the Philadelphia region,” explains Yvonne Wright, a spokesperson for Citadel. “We found that we already have a large number of people in that area who are customers. This expansion into Bucks County made sense.”

The new Bucks County-based branch is located in the Center Point Place Shopping Center in Warminster, but this is just the beginning. The company is also planning to continue to add new, free standing branches in Bucks and Montgomery counties over the next several years.

“We are really enthusiastic to be in the area and to introduce members to our style of banking,” explains Wright. The institution dates back to the 1930s, and offers lower fees than traditional banks. Checking at Citadel is free. Members of the credit union can maintain a low balance and not get hit with frustrating fees.

Citadel also offers what Wright calls relatively higher rates than traditional banking institutions – everything from checking, savings, and money market accounts to investment services, online services, online and mobile banking, and text alerts. Customers also have the convenience of mobile deposits by simply taking a picture of a check to deposit via smart phone. “We offer modern conveniences with lower fees, higher rates, and excellent customer service,” says Wright.

It is that excellence in customer service that brings many members into Citadel. “We really pride ourselves on our customer service,” says Wright. “It is one of our pillars of success. We treat each other and each customer with the utmost respect.”

Citadel is offering $100 gift cards to people who open any new checking account from now until the end of June, with an opportunity to receive another $100 with other transactions. Lucky attendees at their Grand Opening event over the weekend also accessed giveaways and raffle items, including tickets to a Philadelphia Phillies game.
