Step into the enchanted world of Broadway's modern classic “Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST,” which ran for over 13 years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Newtown Arts Company is presenting this “tale as old as time,” based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature, August 3 through 9 at the historic Newtown Theatre, 120 N. State Street, Newtown, PA 18940.

With all the wonderful songs by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice, our production is directed by husband-and-wife team Morgaine Ford-Workman and Wren Workman of Morrisville, with musical direction by Susan den Outer of Newtown, choreography by Morgaine Ford-Workman, and costumes designed by Ann Cole of Newtown.

The classic story tells of Belle (Jordan Virgil of East Windsor, N.J.), a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast (Patrick O'Leary of Southampton), who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

“Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST” is perfect for kids of all ages, so bring your entire family for musical theater at its best!
