To complement its popular Spring Beer Festival with Premium Spirits and Wine Garden, McCoole’s at the Historic Red Lion Inn is holding a Home Brew Competition.
This competition is not a sanctioned event; the beers judged will reflect the categories described by the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP), available at bjcp.org. Only categories 1-23 will be accepted. There are no mead or cider categories.
Bring your entries (3 bottles of beer per entry), labeled according to the rules, to a drop off point before April 21, 2017 to be considered for judging at McCoole’s Beer Fest.
There is a $6 fee per entry. Please include cash for each entry upon submission at a drop off point either at McCoole’s Red Lion Inn, 4 South Main St., Quakertown, PA, or the Keystone Homebrew Supply, 126-28 East 3rd St, Bethlehem, PA.
Homebrewers must enter their beers using the standard BJCP categories, designating the category and sub category entered by the appropriate numbers and letters. The organizing committee will then collapse all entries into eight (8) distinct categories: Light Ale, Amber Ale, Dark Ale, Light Lager, Amber Lager, Dark Lager, Belgian Strong Ale and Specialty Beer.
Proceeds from McCoole’s Beer Festival will go to Main Street Arts & Events, a nonprofit organization created to support furthering youth education in the arts and for Tails of Valor, Paws of Honor Inc.
