Looking for an intellectual adventure this weekend? Or perhaps the perfect day date?  This weekend just so happens to be the public's last chance to check out the Art into Fashion exhibit, a survey of Roberto Cappucci's decades of design, at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. From 10am to 5pm on Saturday & Sunday, visit the exhibit, which is free to members and $22 per person for non-members (includes entire museum in addition to exhibit).

I got a chance to visit the tribute to the Italian fashion designer, Roberto Capucci, over Memorial Day weekend.  Though I do not claim to be a fashion guru by any stretch of the imagination (most of my summer shopping is done at Target!), I found it impossible not to appreciate the revolutionary designs of Capucci, true works of art through fashion.  Viewing over eighty of Capucci's highly revered works of contemporary fashion design is well worth the drive downtown!

Architecture and nature are recurring themes throughout Capucci's designs.  For example, the above dress, one of his early works, was inspired by a ripple of water- picture a stone thrown into a pond.  Years before Lady Gaga wore plastic dresses to award shows, Capucci was applying such modern innovations to his designs.  Throughout his career, he experimented with bold colors and surprising materials such as plastic and stones.

Visiting the exhibit, walking up the iconic Art Museum steps, and looking out on the city's beautiful skyline- it's a pretty perfect day trip!
