Chanukah season gets off to a celebratory start with the opening of Chanukah Wonderland on December 11, 2016 at 2106 South Eagle Road in Newtown, PA. Hosted by Lubavitch of Bucks County and originally founded by its Rabbi, Yehuda Shemtov, Chanukah Wonderland offers both a holiday gift shop as well as multiple family-friendly events throughout the month of December.

Inspired by wanting to give Jewish families a place to shop and celebrate this holiday season Rabbi Shemtov created Chanukah Wonderland over 20 years ago. “It’s really all about giving members of the Jewish community and their children a place where they can walk in and feel the warmth of the Jewish holiday that’s coming up,” said Shemtov.

The shop has become a Bucks County tradition dubbed the “One-stop-shop for all your Chanukah gifts and family activities.” The pop-up is organized and run by volunteers of the congregation,
One of the main goals of the pop-up is to be, not only a holiday shop, but a center for family-friendly activities. This year’s holiday activities include:

December 18: Chanukah Concert featuring Ms. Marilyn of the Yardley-based Kids’ MusicRound. December 20: Chanukah storytime and craft making session.
December 22: Make Your Own Menorah craft.
December 25: Chanukah Party with activities, crafts and baking.

The Lubavitch Bucks County Jewish Community Center Bat Mitzvah Club will also be hosting a toy drive to benefit Jewish children at the shop. For over ten years the pop-up shop has been a drop-off location for the drive. Organizers are requesting new toys, no stuffed animals or toys with animals or weapons. The deadline for the toy drive is December 20. Donations may also be dropped off at their main center on 25 State Street in Newtown, PA.
