It's official. Fall is here. And while some are rejoicing over the cooler temperatures and the return of PSL, we're also excited about the beauty and fashion trends a new season brings. Here are some ideas on how to refresh your look for fall, as well as tips on where to go in Bucks County to get help from the experts.

Fresh Hair, Fresh Outlook

A fresh color and cut is often the most popular way to give yourself a new look. While summer is the season of messy ponytails and beachy waves, fall weather lends itself to sleeker, more polished looks. According to Cosmopolitan, these are some of the trends for 2019: Deep Side parts; Headbands; Face-Framing Tendrils; Sleek, Low Ponytails; Non-Basic Buns; Statement Braids; Crimped Waves; and Brushed Out Curls.

If you’re ready to trade in your sun-bleached color for something a little more seasonal, consider colors inspired by nature. Think caramel golds, chestnut browns and fiery reds. Blondes might want to try multi-dimensional honey or ginger tones, shadow roots, or even a frosted look. If bold color is your thing, shades of lilac and scarlet red are big for fall.

Best Face Forward

Now that summer’s over, you might be ready to say goodbye to the sun-kissed, au naturel looks that are popular during the warmer months. For fall, we recommend smoky eyes, dramatic lashes, burgundy and rich red lipsticks and touches of mauve or terra cotta. For a bolder look inspired by the catwalk, add twists such as graphic shapes, neon flashes and glitter sparkles.

Whatever the time of year, your best looks start with luminous skin. The experts at Zanya Spa Salon can recommend a spa facial treatment and at-home products to get your skin looking its best. (Hint – Have you tried Biologique Recherche?)

Give Fall A Hand

When it comes to fall nails, rich berry shades never go out of style. We’re also loving terracotta accents, remixed French tips and even animal prints. This year, subtlety meets excess when it comes to fall nail trends. You’ll see pearls glued to sheer nude nails and metallic stripes swiped across a matte base.

Tip: Our 2019 Happening List Winner for Best Manicure, Express Nails in Yardley can set you up with whatever look you’re craving. The licensed nail technicians offer services with dip powder, gel and standard nail polish.

Pep In Your Step

Is it even really fall if you haven’t worn boots yet? (We say no.) This year, combat boots are making a comeback along with square-toed shoes and slouch boots in white or animal prints.

Tip: Happening List Winner Shoe Café in Newtown is sure to have to strutting in style.

And if peep-toe booties are calling your name, be sure to get that fall-ready pedicure. Happening List Winner for Best Pedicure, aSPAthecary in Quakertown provides a variety of pedicure experiences. For a real treat, choose the “Pedicure of the Month.” The themed pedicure features Farmhouse Fresh products, a heated herbal neck wrap and a cocktail (or other beverage) and edible treat. (October calls for spiked hot apple cider!)

Flashback Fall Fashion

According to designers showcased at this year’s New York Fashion week, the ’90s are back. So are the ’80s (think shoulder pads) and the ’70s. Patchwork prints, school boy suits, plaid pants, animal prints and gold lame topped the runway, along with asymmetrical or square necklines.

Tip: Smith & Scott is our 2019 Happening List Winner for Women’s Clothing. The Doylestown Boutique carries items that take you from work to a night out with ease. And they’re HERE for all the vintage-inspired looks.
