At this time of year, high school seniors are getting ready to graduate from school and making the final decision as to what college or where they want to go once the year-ends. That is not the case for Holy Ghost Prep High School senior, Tim Brennan. timTim has been committed to play baseball at St. Josephs University since the fall of his junior year. This was an easy decision for Tim as baseball has been in his life for as long as he can remember, “I have been playing baseball since I was three. I started with T-ball and never looked back.”

He also recalls some of his favorite memories which included going to the park around the corner playing with his dad, “My dad has always played baseball with me. We would play together for as long as we could, until it got dark outside. We would grab our baseball gloves and bats and go to the field around the corner from our house.”

Tim remembers, “One vivid memory was the day before my first communion. My dad and I went over to the field and he hit a ground ball that took a bad hop and resulted in a black eye. I looked great with my all white suit and a shiner. Needless to say, we had to retake the pictures.”

tim brennanTim is unique as he pitches right handed and bats with his left. Chase Utley plays baseball the same way. Tim says, “As a fielder, I love Chase Utley. He is definitely someone who I look up to. Not only does he throw right and bat left, but I admire his hustle and the way he plays the game.”

As for his favorite pitcher, “Cole Hammels, is a pitcher that I love. I haven’t met either of them but would love to in the future!”

Being in the major leagues has always been Tim’s goal. Although he is majoring in sports marketing, when it comes to baseball Tim says, “Someone said to me once, ‘when you do something you love, you never work a day in your life.’ That really struck a chord with me. There is nothing I love more than playing baseball.” As for getting drafted into the MLB, Tim is hoping that day comes, but school and education is very important to him.

“If I were to be drafted during college, that would be a big decision for me.”

But Tim isn’t all about baseball, he also has achieved four years of perfect attendance in high school, was awarded the Kevin J. Montgomery National Honor Society Scholarship and the Libermann Scholarship at Holy Ghost Prep.

What is Tim looking forward to most during his time playing baseball at St. Joseph’s?

“I am looking forward to improving as a player and being a part of such a talented team! When I went for my visit, the team made me feel so welcome. The coaches are great. You can always learn and the coaches have plenty of knowledge that they can pass along to me.”
