Ahh, Labor Day! Sure it is nice to get a day off of work but it sadly marks the end of a hot summer season. Of course Bucks County always holds some of the best events in the area for the holiday weekend. So for you, our readers, we complied a list of all the happenings throughout Bucks County.

CENTRAL BUCKS

Doylestown

 First Friday – Friday, September 3rd,  6-9:30pm.  First Friday is an evening celebrating music and visual arts. September will feature Love Handles, Overtones, Richard Brothers, Caleb, Downtown Chad Brown, Billy Amore, Mike Ottaviano and Mike Pfieffer.

Tower Tours for Families- Saturday, September 4th, 10:30am & 11:45am, Fonthill Museum. Children and parents explore Henry Mercer’s castle from basement to tower and learn about Mercer’s creative ideas through stories and prints. Children must be 6 or older and able to climb steep stairs. $10 adults, $9 seniors, $4 youth (age 6-17), $7 member adults, $3 member youth. Reservations required, call 215-348-9461.

  The 45th Annual Polish American Festival- September 4-6th, 12noon-8pm, The National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa. The Festival offers rides, a children's playground, exhibits, a Polish Village, crafts, and fabulous entertainment, such as live music, shows, and Polka dancing. Admission is $10.00 per person, and parking is free.

Lahaska

Peddler's Village Scarecrow Competition & Display September 6th. Bigger than life scarecrow creations are displayed outdoors and compete for over $5,000 in cash prizes. Vote for your favorites in the following categories: extraordinary, contemporary, traditional/whirligig, kids only, group, quite the character, and keystone krow. Free admission and parking! Also check out the Bucks Happening scarecrow on display!

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY

Langhorne

Sesame Place BBQ & Fireworks- September 5th, 10am-8:30pm, Come celebrate Labor Day with all your favorite Sesame Street friends at Big Bird's Riverside Pavilion. Dinner is from 7:30-8:30pm. Dinner prices are adult $24 and children (ages 2-11) $16. Menu includes BBQ chicken, smoked beef brisket, hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, mac n' cheese, salads, rolls, desserts and assorted Pepsi products. After a fun-filled dinner enjoy the end of summer fireworks display! The night sky will be sparkling at Sesame Place, with a spectacular fireworks show, set to a Sesame Street sound track, making the festivities on Labor Day weekend truly memorable.

Morrisville

Mayor's Labor Day Picnic – September 6th, 10am – 4 pm, Williamson Park. Picnic will include music, fun, games and door prizes.

Fire Company Labor Day 10k & Fun Day-  September 6th, Morrisville Fire Company. Entry fees are $25.00 until September 5th and $30.00 on race day between 7:00am – 8:45am. The one mile fun run registration is $20.00. Number and shirt pick up will take place at the Morrisville Fire Company on September 4th and 5th  from 9am – 4pm. The 10k course begins at Williamson Park on North Delmorr Avenue. Course maps are also available at the Morrisville Fire Company.

New Hope


New Hope/Lambertville Fireworks Display – September 3rd, 9-9:30pm, Delaware River. The Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce and Lambertville Chambers of Commerce will present a ten-minute firework show conducted by Garden State Fireworks will illuminate the sky for the last night of summer! In addition, the retail businesses on both sides of the river will stay open late until 10:00 pm.

Evening Star Dinner Trains – September 4th, 7-10pm, New Hope/Ivyland Train. Passengers can ride the rails in first class comfort, enjoying dinner and cocktails while appreciating the strolling scene provided by the Bucks County countryside. Ticket prices includes two-hour round trip, train ride to Buckingham Valley, three course meal, and coffee service.  Ticket prices are $75.00 per person for railroad seating, with other guests at a table of four or $108.00 per person for  private seating, table for two.

Alice in Wonderland – September 3rd & 4th, 11am & 1pm, Bucks County Playhouse. Children have always been fascinated by Alice’s strange and exciting adventures in Wonderland. Now they can actually join Alice in her travels. In this remarkable adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic, Willard Simms has created a Wonderland especially made for children. The audience becomes a part of the forest through which Alice travels; they join her at the Mad Hatter's tea party, and even take part in that memorable croquet game with the Queen of Hearts. Tickets are $8 per person.

Yardley

Shady Brook Farm Summer Wine Concert Series- This is the last of the summer! Enjoy crackers, cheese, chips and dips from the Farm market or enjoy a burger or hot dog from the grill. Wine is sold by the glass or by the bottle. You can also enjoy a wine tasting by Rose Bank Winery. This series will feature the sounds of Idlewoodsman.
