The Practical Nursing Program will explain how you can become a licensed health care professional in one year on October 24 in Newtown.

Bucks County Community College is hosting an information session about its Practical Nursing program, where attendees can learn how to enter the nursing profession in just one year.  The free session takes place at 6 p.m.Tuesday, October  24, at the Newtown campus.

“Practical nursing can open the door to an exciting career in health care as well as flexible and lucrative opportunities,” said Michelle Rue, director of the Practical Nursing program. “The program is perfect for those who always wanted to be a nurse, are looking for a career change, and have the passion to make a difference in someone’s life.”

At the information session, you can learn about the application process, curriculum, and financial aid. Questions will also be answered about a career as a practical nurse and what you can expect in the job market.

The one-year, noncredit certificate program begins each July. Students attend full-time, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at either the Newtown campus or Upper Bucks Campus in Perkasie, while clinical training takes place at various health care facilities in Bucks County.  Students must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.

The information session takes place in room 203 of the Allied Health Building on the campus at 275 Swamp Rd., Newtown, Pa., where there is ample free parking. The session is free, but registration is requested.  To register, email pnursing@bucks.edu with your name and phone number, or call 215-968-8316.
