Mark Arnold, Leukemia survivor

Mark Arnold was where he wanted to be. He was an Senior Vice President with a great company, was married and had one child. Then, in November of 2004 his life changed forever. He was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) at the age of 40. The day after his diagnosis, he was in the hospital and on chemotherapy. Fast forward to October of 2008 and the leukemia returned. Mark had a bone marrow transplant in April of 2009 and is currently in remission.

When people, like Mark & his family, find themselves in this impossible situation, they can turn to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for guidance.

“The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society helped me with everything from information about the disease to helping all of us understand the prognosis, the therapies and everything in between”, Mark stated recently. “From the beginning, they were always there for me and my family. We even had great friends researching all over the internet for information about everything from a to z ; it was incredible”.

On Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 7pm, there will be a Beef and Beer at Guppy’s Good Times in Conshohocken, PA with the classic rock band Shabby Road providing the music. The proceeds from the benefit will go the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Light the Night Walk

Recently, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society held the second annual kick off for the Light The Night Walk at the Phillies game August 18th. Mark and his wife Karen have organized a team, Walk This Way ,   to participate in the walk on October 9th at Philadelphia Park in Bensalem, PA. The first time they participated in the walk, they raised $3,200.00, their goal this year is $6,000.

“We will do everything that we can to raise money for the society and to bring awareness to what the society is and does”, said Karen. “We believe in it and will always support their efforts to raise money for research for a cure”.

Every 4 minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer; every 10 minutes someone loses their fight with a blood cancer. All the monies raised by The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society goes to research for key advances in curing all blood cancers !
