Local Philadelphia based Rock-Punk-Reggae band Among Criminals recently released their “do or die” self titled album.  With hard-earned money from guitar lessons, pizza delivery, and other odd-jobs, Buck County native Ryan Gaughan took lead and managed to scrape up enough money to get Grammy-nominated producer Jim Salamone (Bon Jovi, Temptations) and Chuck Treece (Bad Brains, McRad) to take on the project at what would become Ryans new home, Cambridge Sound Studios in Newtown PA.

The album is comprised of songs from previous self recorded albums that Chuck and Jim brought new life to.  The Reggae has a 70's punky feel to it, reminiscent of The Clash or The Police.  Chuck helped the band reach into their Punk-Rock soul and shine light on the catchy melodies.  Jim made his mark in the bands Psychedelic noise-rock parts, and guided Ryans vocals from day one.  Previous albums included a Caribbean sound now replaced by a much more angst-ridden and aggressive sound, coupled with lyrics of injustice, war, and political deceit.  In fact, for each album sold on the band's website ($7), $1 will go Oxfam Hunger Relief.

Over the past weekend, Among Criminals played Musikfest 2012 alongside Young The Giant and Portugal and has also been featured on Radio 1045 and NBC 10! show
