On May 30 two local youth sports teams will be joining NAC Owner Jim Worthington in Washington DC. Worthington is a newly appointed member of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition.

The teams will be interacting with Mr. Worthington and other members of the newly appointed President’s council such as: Herschel Walker, Mariano Rivera, Bill Belichick, Dr. Oz, Lou Ferrigno and Misty-May Treanor.  This will all take place on the White House Lawn where the young athletes will receive training tips from these legendary athletes and a chance to make some connections. .

One of the local teams attending as Worthington’s guests is the Lower Makefield Township Flag Football team for boys ages 9 – 13 with Coach Gordon Workman organizing the team to participate.  The other team attending is the GPS Crush Volley ball team for girls ages 9 – 13 under the direction of Coach Margie Arm (a seasoned 38-year veteran of coaching girls volleyball).  Crush is part of East Coast Power Volleyball which now hosts a Bucks Division.

The group of young athletes going to Washington DC will consist of approximately 30 athletes and 10 chaperones.

“I am delighted and proud to be in the position to offer this opportunity to our local youth.  I never had a chance to go to the White House in my own youth.  My hope is that this experience will motivate them to identify and exceed new goals in their young lives while creating a lifelong memory,” said Worthington.

The President’s Council plans to focus on engaging more of our nation’s youth in physical activity through youth sports and other means.  Physical activity is seen as a pathway to making our nation healthier overall and addressing the healthcare crisis.
