Terri's Mom

Karen Clarke: I am thankful for my Mom. For her courage, strength, and for always being a great Mom to not only me, but to my niece and nephew. She is a giver, and a fighter, and is always willing to lend a hand to others, and never puts herself first. My mom was a breast cancer survivor, in remission for 5 years, when suddenly, the cancer returned in her liver and chest. It is currently spreading, but she takes chemo treatments that help her fight her second battle with cancer. In addition, she is an amazing mother to me (and is always only a phone call away), and my niece Nina, 9, and nephew, John, 11, who she has taken in and has been raising as her own since they were babies. She is a fighter, with a strong spirit, and even on her toughest days, is strong for herself and everyone else around her. I am so thankful to have such an amazing Mom, who has worked so hard her entire life, and deserves something nice, her 15 minutes of fame

SSG Knickman: I would like to nominate my wife SSG Knickman.I am thankful for Amber because she has sacrificed a lot of holidays and family time when she was deployed to Iraq and stationed in South Korea. She continues to serve her country and does so with pride and professionalism. This photo was taken of her when we were stationed at Fort Myer, VA and she was in the 3D Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard). For the three years we were stationed there, she volunteered to lay wreaths at the graves of fallen heroes in Arlington National Cemetery, she was also part of the unit that places a flag at every single grave for memorial day. She said it was the most rewarding thing she has done in the military and we still continue to make the trips to Arlington to lay wreaths. She is a great soldier, friend and person and deserves to be recognized. Thank you!

Pearl Hausmann: I am thankful for my grandmother, Pearl Hausmann. She is 80 years old and still works part-time as a waitress at the Alpine Restaurant in Honesdale, PA. She tirelessly gives herself to her family and friends, loving every moment of it. Whether she is hosting family dinners, attending her great-grandchildren’s baseball games, plays, dance recitals or church events, or having coffee with friends at Dunkin Donuts, she can always be spotted with a beaming smile on her face. She is the glue that ties our family together, and even though she is getting older, she will travel to Vermont, upstate New York, or down to Philadelphia to visit her kids and grandchildren. She is the epitome of grace, kindness and selflessness, and has instilled the values of love, hard work, and a close-knit family in me. I believe she deserves a night out to celebrate herself and all the lives and hearts she has touched throughout her life.

I would like to nominate my Dad as being the person I am most thankful for. My Dad is the most kind person I know. Since I was a little girl he was my best friend and to this day 47 yrs later he still is. He would do anything for me and his family and friends. He has had some rough times lately. He wants to do all of the things he used to do and isnt physically able to anymore because of having knee surgery. He had a knee replacement a year ago and although he tried to work through the rehab it didnt heal quite the way it should. He always looks defeated although his eyes show the spirit and fight inside him. He wont stop for anything and I love him for that. A true fighter and the best Dad and friend around. I want to give the world to him just as he always did for me.
