Our group at Rose Bank Winery

My husband and I moved back (well, I moved back, he moved to) to Bucks County when we got married in 2007.  Since then, I have grown to love and appreciate this area more and more.  One aspect of Bucks County that I was never able to appreciate prior to college was the scenic wineries that lay right outside our front door.  So in order to pay homage, we have instituted an annual trip to the wineries for our friends. On Saturday we hosted our second annual.  We rent a limo bus and make the rounds to 3-4 of the 10 local wineries. This year, we made 4 stops:

  • Wycombe Vineyards:  Our group actually visited this winery last year as well, but they were so warm and accomodating that we decided to visit again! Rich Fraser, the resident Vintner, gave us an informative and interesting tasting.  He was very knowledgeable in explaining the different types of wines, how they were made, and historical references.  Wycombe produces wine in the European tradition.  The group favorite was the Naked Chardonnay. Well, the group favorite is actually the Fraser's adorable dog, whom everyone remembered from last year, but the wine was great too :).
  • The view from the reflection on the ceiling in the limo bus. Note our awesome and practical pretzel necklaces!

Rose Bank Winery: Owned by the family that owns Shady Brook Farm and Del Val Creamery, Rose Bank Winery has a beautiful new event space.  Their barns are fully renovated and really just stunning.  The highlight for me at the Rose Bank Tasting is the delicious variety of fruit wines (I have praised them in the past).

  • Chaddsford Tasting Room:  This one was an unplanned stop.  The limo bus had to make a detour that landed us square in the middle of Peddler's Village, so we seized the day and made a quick stop in the Chaddsford Tasing Room.  The staff there is  soooo accommodating, and friendly, and their tasting room is quite beautiful.
  • New Hope Winery:  They were our last stop both years in a row.  We keep meaning to get there first, but we haven't had the chance yet.  Set on Route 202 in between Peddler's Village and New Hope, this winery is quite rustic.  Dan, who served us in the tasting room, was entertaining and informative.
