Warning: Your child could become crazy about Math!

Let's face it- Math gets a bad rap. Kids who struggle in the subject can feel like catching up is impossible, and too often you'll hear parents agree that, “My kid just isn't good at Math.”

But that is changing, thanks in part to the Math learning center taking the country by storm- Mathnasium, now with over 600 locations in the US and abroad. And this summer, Bucks County is joining in the Math revolution with the opening of its very own Mathnasium of Buckingham at Peddler’s Village. Plus, save the date! Their official Grand Opening Celebration is scheduled for September 19, 2015.

Mathnasium provides Math instruction and a personalized curriculum to children in grades 1 through 12 in a fun and empowering environment. It's both for students who need help with Math as well as kids who excel in the subject and have the potential to learn beyond what's being taught at in the classroom.

unnamed-2Best of all, the new Mathnasium of Buckingham was brought to Bucks County by Tammy Goldberg and her husband Marc, who are as passionate about Bucks County as they are about Math. Tammy, who spent time in Bucks County while in college, already owns three successful Mathnasium learning centers in Manhattan.

Tammy was driven to open a location in Central Bucks County, “We like Bucks County personally and want to spend more time here. People have the right mindset here and really support their child’s education, so it’s a perfect fit.”

The Goldbergs have an excellent reputation within the Mathnasium community. Not only is one of the Goldberg's Manhattan centers the most successful Mathnasium learning center in North America, she and Marc designed the assessment program currently used by all of Mathnasium; which they stress is not just a placement test, but a personal, interactive process to see how a child gets to their answers. “From there, we can hone in on the skills each individual child needs to work on,” Marc explains.

“The assessment shows both strengths and weaknesses,” Tammy explains. “From there we put together a customized plan with topics each student needs to work on. We have learned how to teach kids to think like natural mathematical thinkers.”

Marc reiterated that, through years of research and experience, Mathnasium understands the way that gifted Math students think and Mathnasium's success is due in part to their ability to “package” that to teach all kids to approach the subject. Beyond improving grades, Tammy & Marc often witness kids with increased confidence in Math able to extend that positivity and drive into other areas of their lives.

The Goldbergs know that part of the reason their Mathnasiums are experiencing such success with students is their customized approach.

“We are not just tutors. We are instructors and there is an individualized curriculum per student. We can spend some time doing homework help if wanted, but this is really about addressing the underlying problems and building a child’s confidence in Math. In kid’s minds, if they feel that they’re not good at Math, it holds them back in other subjects. Our focus is on teaching the kids to think in Math terms and building a really strong Math background, so that there are no more problems. We also see kids who love Math and want more of it! We take good Math students and turn them into excellent Math students.”

Tammy and Marc are excited to be located in Peddlers Village just a few doors down from Giggleberry Fair. They plan to deliver their fun approach to Math at all the seasonal festivals and are also plan to host their own Family Fun Nights. Plus, when mom and dad need a night out, they will host kids-only game nights so that their parents can go out to get dinner in Peddlers Village.

So how does membership work? Mathnasium of Buckingham is currently assessing students for instruction during the school year. You are encouraged to bring your child for a no-risk assessment, where they’ll go through the Math assessment process at no charge, and you can join if you want. A total of eight hours each month (we did the Math… that’s two one-hour sessions per week!) is suggested.

All sessions are scheduled in advance and each session is in a semi private group with no more than three students per instructor. There will be direct instruction plus time left alone to get work done, and time for homework help if needed.

It's easy to understand how this all adds up to happy students! Enrollment is now open at Peddler’s Village.  Please contact Mathnasium at 215-302-6174 or Buckingham@mathnasium.com and follow them on Facebook.
