May is all about moms! But it's also food allergy awareness month.

Well, one local mom, Lora Cipriano, is working to raise awareness, publishing her first allergy free cookbook called, “Children's Allergy Free Recipes: No Peanuts, Tree-nuts, Or Eggs Used In These Family Recipes.”

Lora began modifying, recreating and compling her cookbook over one year ago, after her 6 month old son was diagnosed with food allergies. “I decided to write this book because it was so hard for me to find recipes that were egg and nut free,” said lora.

Food allergies are on the rise. 1 in 13 children are affected with a food allergy, according to Food Allergy Research Education (FARE). “I wanted to help other families facing the same food challenges,” continues Lora. According to Lora she searched Amazon and local bookstores to find a cookbook that just eliminated eggs, but not dairy all together. Lora said, “My son is not allergic to dairy, only eggs, so I did not want to deny him of dairy, as well.”
