yoga solsticeOn December 21, 2014, yoga studios everywhere will celebrate the Winter Solstice, gathering on the shortest day of the year to welcome back the light and set high intentions for the New Year, typically with 108 sun salutations.

Each year, the Newtown Athletic Club's Mind/Body program (which includes all Pilates and Yoga classes that the NAC offers) participates in the celebration, holding all-day winter or summer solstice classes.

This year is no different. On December 21st, the Newtown Athletic Club will host 12 continuous hours of Yoga from 7:30am-7:30pm. Classes include Power Solstice, Yoga for Newbies, Vinyasa & Balancing, Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, Chanting and Meditation, Twists, Astrological Vinyasa and 108 Sun Salutations.

A special Ayurveda class will be held at noon where participants learn how to eat to keep their ‘Dosha’or energy in balance. Food for Ayurveda will be provided by the NACafe. All classes are available to beginners as well as advanced students.

Plus, as their gift to the community, this event is entirely free for NAC members and guests!*
