With the smell of fresh baked belgian waffles permeating down West Mechanic Street, it's hard to resist walking into the brand new Nina's Waffles and Ice Cream, even though it's tucked away about a block off of bustling Main Street in New Hope. Once inside, expect all will power to make a swift exit.  Rich, fresh baked waffles sweetened to perfection with a delicate baked-in layer of sugar; a range of hand-crafted small-batch ice creams; and a big smile from waffle-maker extraordinaire Shawn Lawson greets guests.

The waffles, a secret family recipe, are a treat all on their own.  Visitors can opt for toppings such as peanut butter, bananas, and Nutella or indulge in a scoop of one of OWowCow's famous flavors such as Wild Berries, Chai Cream, Chocolate Raspberry, and Madagascar Vanilla (UPDATE 2013: Nina's now makes their own ice cream!).  As anyone who frequents the Jersey shore boardwalk knows, cold ice cream slightly melted into a still-warm waffle creates the perfect dessert pairing, and Nina's waffles paired with OWowCow ice cream is far ahead of anything I've sampled down the shore!

When Nina's Waffles and Ice Cream opened their doors on Friday, April 13, 2012, the already tasty town of New Hope got a whole lot sweeter. Local foodies will want to rush over to Nina's to try their trademark waffles, which have already gained quite the reputation in Red Bank, New Jersey where they opened in 2011. Louis Zanias, owner of Zoubi's Cakes and Catering in addition to the popular Carla's, is the mastermind behind this new sweets-lovers' paradise.

Nina's is currently open Thursday through Sunday, from about noon until about 10pm.  Their official grand opening is slated for May 20th (just in time for Friday Night Fireworks). Expect news of this delicious treat to travel fast!
