Fall is time for beer lovers to enjoy Oktoberfests in a variety of forms and venues. Breweries both local and regional are pouring up their latest batches for enthusiasts throughout the season. Look for your favorites at one of these featured events.

Washington Crossing Brewfest
When: October 27
Where: 1638 River Road, New Hope, PA
Your ticket to brewed up fun is only $45, $10 if you are a designated driver, at this Washington Crossing Event. All guests must be 21 to enter this sampling event, with 2 ounce pours.
During the event, attendees can sample a wide variety of ciders, pumpkin beers, harvest ales, and sour beers from dozens of regional and national breweries. Food trucks will provide savory and sweet bites to complement these seasonal brews, while bonfires throughout the grounds will heighten the fall atmosphere.

Beer on the Farm
When: October 14
Where: Hidden Valley Farm 2955 Wilkinson Road, Jamison, PA
This fall Levante Brewing and Bernie's Restaurant & Bar in Hatboro combine forces for a single-day, pop-up beer garden with live music, hayrides, bonfires, great food, and beer.

KOP Beerfest Royal
When: Thurs., Oct. 4 & Sat., Oct 6
Where: King of Prussia Mall off Mall Blvd, King of Prussia, PA 19406

This highly popular tasting event takes place in two formats – a Donnerstag: Happy Hour on Thurs., Oct 4th from 5:30 to 9 pm or your choice of two sessions on Sat. Oct. 6th from 12 to 3:30 pm or 6 to 9:30 pm.  This year also features a special VIP session beginning at 5 pm on Sat. with access to limited-edition brews.

The event is held outdoors, rain or shine, under large tents on the parking lot of King of Prussia Mall. Sample beer from dozens of breweries and food from KOP restaurants. Thursday’s ticket includes unlimited food and beer samples, wine, creative cocktails, delicious desserts, a cigar lounge and live music. Saturday session include unlimited beer tastings of over 100 craft and international beers. Food is available for purchase. The event typically sells out so advance online purchase of tickets is strongly suggested.

Ambler Oktoberfest
When: Sat., Oct. 6
Where: Downtown – Butler Ave., Ambler, PA 19002

Don’t miss Ambler’s 27th annual community beer festival on Oct. 6th.  The event will be held from 11 am to 6 pm along Butler Pike in downtown Ambler.  Side streets will also host the over 90 vendors and 10 food trucks. Businesses and restaurants will have specials all day. Kids’ rides, a beer garden, craft venfors and live music on two stages provides something for everyone. No tickets required, pay as you go.

Conshohocken Beerfest
When: Sat., Oct. 13
Where: A. Garthwaite Stadium, East 11th & Harry St., Conshohocken, PA 19428

Check out the fifth annual beer festival that supports the Plymouth Whitemarsh Rotary Club.  The event will feature sampling from over 50 local, regional and national craft beers. Local food vendors and live music help to make this a do not miss afternoon. Admission tickets are sold online and organizers encourage buying early as the event always sells out. All proceeds go toward providing Thanksgiving meals and childrens’ Christmas gifts to those in need in the community.

Mainland Grille Craft Beer & Cider Festival
When: Sun., Oct. 14
Where: Mainland Grille, 2250 Rittenhouse Rd., Harleysville, PA 19438

Join the folks at Mainland Grille and Golf Course for this special tasting event featuring samples from over 25 local craft breweries and ciderworks. Unlimited tastings begin at 1 pm, or purchase a VIP ticket to get an early start at noon. VIP tickets also include an unlimited hot food buffet and a custom tasting cup.  Live entertainment also from Two Rocks Rye. Spend the day and receive $10 off your admission with a golf card dated 10/14.

Valley Forge Beer & Cider Festival
When: Sat., Dec. 1
Where: The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, 100 Station Ave., Oaks, PA 19456

Sample both beer and cider from over 150 vendors, including local, regional and international providers. Choose from two sessions and two ticket levels. Session 1 runs from 12:30 to 4 pm and session 2 from 5:30 to 9 pm. General admission includes a 5 oz.tasting cup, unlimited beer and cider sampling and convenient on-site parking. VIP tickets include a souvenir Belgian tasting glass and several other perks, including special beers to sample and VIP bathrooms! Event typically sells out so purchase tickets online early.

Beer Mile Races

A beer mile race belongs to the extreme sport genre of races in something known as digestive athletics. Competitors drink four 12 oz beers interspersed with four quarter-mile runs around a track. Getting sick usually earns you a penalty lap. Some events are held at competitive levels, some just for fun and some as fundraisers. Two events are being held in our area this fall. Check them out:

Levante National Craft BEER Mile Championship
When: Sun., Oct. 28
Where: Levante Brewing Company, 208 Carter Dr., Suite 2, West Chester, PA US 19382

The event begins at 11:30 am with a Championship heat designed for runners who can complete a mile in under 7 ½ minutes. Several other heats for fun will follow. Don’t drink? Join the water heat and be a designated driver. Sign up online.

Beer Mile – Charity Event
When: Sat., Nov. 17
Where: Blue Bell Glenn, Beale Rd., Blue Bell, PA 19422

Help raise funds for battling Crohn's and Colitis diseases during this charity event. Family friendly, kids can run too (no beer, of course!). Register online here.
