Where art and nature intersect – you’ll discover the beauty and magic of CB Cares Pumpkinfest on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Moravian Tile Works in Doylestown. This premier fall event showcases the artistry of 20 professional carvers each with a massive 200 pound pumpkin and a 6 hour time line to carve, sculpt and create a glowing masterpiece under the archways of the historic Moravian Pottery and Tile Works. This year marks the 25th anniversary of this long-standing tradition of Pumpkinfest. The grounds open at 2pm with food trucks, family-friendly activities and attractions for kids of all ages. The community is invited to witness this enchanted landscape while sipping warm cider and enjoying the live on-stage performances.
Headlining this year is Doylestown’s own master storyteller and guitarist Seamus Kelleher. Seamus started his music career in his hometown of Galway in the late 60s where at age fifteen he was the opening act for major groups like Thin Lizzy. Since then, he has toured across the US and Europe performing over 7000 shows in venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Excelsior in Rome. Most recently, he was the lead guitarist with Philadelphia’s own Blackthorn. Seamus is also a motivational speaker. His presentation “Shine the Light” focuses on helping people suffering from depression, anxiety and addiction. Most recently, he spoke at Baylor Medical Center in Texas and a meeting of School of Rock franchise owners in Philadelphia.
Pumpkinfest kicks off Red Ribbon Week in the community, a national week-long ATOD (alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs) prevention campaign that encourages young people to live drug free. CB Cares EF in partnership with the Bucks County Parks and Recreation host this event along with the generous support of the Trauger Family Farm of Kintnersville, the official Pumpkinfest Farm. Keeping the tradition aglow for generations to come meant harvesting a new batch of carvers; the CBSD National Art Honor Society students will also create and compete in their own Youth Pumpkin Gallery for the coveted Newfield Award.
Highlights for this year’s 25th include:
- Music Headliners include – Local guitar sensation Seamus Kelleher, Doylestown Heat and the Doylestown School of Rock performances
