Too often, we find ourselves running from appointment to appointment, rushing through each day and failing to savor the sweet moments in between all the errands.  Even an indulging experience, such as a visit to the salon, can be tainted by stress.

77% of people regularly experience physical symptoms caused by stress.

Kiki Calasso, the owner of Sublime Salon & Spa, which relocated & expanded into Newtown in 2011, believes everyone deserve a break, and has carefully designed her business to provide much-needed relief.  Sublime's laid-back, comfortable environment is home to a full service salon & spa powered by expert stylists, estheticians, make-up artists, and massage therapists. Their affordable menu includes in-demand services like packages for Bucks County bridal parties, Gel Manicures, Spray Tans, and Hot Rock Massage Therapy.

The philosophy upon which Kiki has passionately built her salon and spa since 2003 is now widely accepted an effective way to de-stress. NYU professor of psychiatry Virginia Sadock, MD explains:

Going to a spa is a way of getting taken care of that is psychologically and culturally acceptable — and we can carry that feeling of being cared for with us for a period of time, and very often that can help us cope better with stress. Physical contact is necessary to our well-being, and even if the touching is from a stranger, if that stranger is a professional there to pamper you, that touch will have a beneficial effect. (via WebMD)

It's no surprise, then, that Sublime's combination of a low-key environment with professional, affordable services is being embraced by Bucks County.  Having launched in 2003, Sublime doubled in size during their relocation to Newtown in August 2011, adding a spa, boutique, and full range of products including Cures by Avance, a plant and seaweed based skincare line, and Paul Mitchell “Teatree” Lemon Sage Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner.

When Kiki was recognized as one of Bucks County's most “Happening Women” during 2012's Women's History Month, she explained how rewarding she found her job,  “I feel so lucky that I truly love what I do for a living.  I know so many people who don’t enjoy their work and I think that’s a shame.  I get to be around all different types of people. And I get to make them feel good about themselves.”

As a business new to the Newtown community, Sublime invites locals to experience their unique environment first hand.  Stay tuned into their Facebook page to find out about an upcoming Ladies Night Out event!
