100_1732Snap! One local runner was in for quite a surprise earlier this week while on her morning jog through New Hope and Lambertville.

Amy Black was crossing the New Hope-Lambertville Bridge when she reportedly noticed something unusual moving in the waters below. Stopping to investigate, she discovered an Alligator lurking in the Delaware River.

Local alligator sitings are extremely rare, but similar circumstances have been reported in both 2010 and 2008. Crocodiles and alligators, of course, are not native to the Delaware River, preferring much warmer climates.  Some locals are theorizing that a local pet is on the loose.
