Will Hammerstein, Oscar Hammerstein II’s grandson, lost his bid by a 3 – 0 vote Monday to turn his famous grandfather’s former home at Highland Farm in Doylestown Township into a museum and educational theater.

Well, if you haven't already heard, we lost 3-0. So incredibly disappointing. There will be much more to say later. Right now there is just shock and disbelief.

Members of the “Doylestown” group on Facebook expressed their frustration, with many vowing to contact the local government to voice their frustrations.

“It's an important piece of American history, not just local history,” commented one local man.

The legal protest against the proposed 400-seat theater center was led by attorney Stephen Harris, who represented neighbors to the historic Highland Farm concerned about the resulting noise, traffic and safety issues of the project.
