Last week, Tina and I were out on the streets on New Hope. Bucks Living Magazine is doing a feature on New Hope, and they asked BucksHappening.com to do a Jay Leno-style video piece to complement their article (we will be posting the video soon). After a morning of running around and interviewing people, we were famished. So we decided we deserved a nice lunch break. Martine's River House is one of our favorite restaurants in New Hope, and when we saw the great prices on their lunch menu, we were psyched!
I always happen to go to Martine's on the day that they change their menu, which happens 4 times a year (with every season). What's nice about the menu is that the small plate entrees are the same price as the sandwiches and the salads, so order what you want guilt-free. In the past, I have enjoyed the mussels as well as the duck salad that Martine's consistently offers. Today I tried something new; I ordered a French dip roast beef sandwich with a side salad. The beef was fresh, thick sliced; far superior to some of the glorified lunch meat French dips that I've had at other restaurants. My sister enjoyed a chicken entree with lemon and capers, accompanied by asparagus. It was actually called a “small plate” on the menu, but small it was not. Tina said that she really enjoyed this fresh dish for our outdoor meal, and that the asparagus was perfectly cooked.
The next time you have the chance to sneak away for lunch on a nice day, the BH girls highly recommend Martine's River House for it's high quality, well-prepared meals, it's excellent value and it's scenic river views. Oh… and you can enjoy a nice glass of wine or cocktail too!
