The Sandbar, New Hope

Earlier this year, and without much of a fuss, the restaurant 90 Main in New Hope closed it's doors.  In it's place, there's a new place in town called The Sandbar.  While I had gotten the chance to check out the bar scene, only recently did I stop in for their Wednesday “Locals Night” to sample the cuisine.

Our party of 4 sat nearby the bar and split a bottle of delicious Sauvignon Blanc- just the right combination of refreshing citrus with a dry finish. The locals menu features a 3 course dinner option for just $16, with about five options for each course.  As many entrees on the menu start around $15, this 3 course meal is a great deal.  Our table started with a yummy trio of hummus and sampled a smorgasbord of other dishes including the chicken enchiladas (which packed some serious heat!), the crab & shrimp salad, potato skins, and even some Spanish flan.

If you can catch a lobster, they'll cook it for you!

While The Sandbar still has some of the posh decor that 90 Main featured, the overall environment is much more laid back.  The circular bar & friendly bartender, Derek, encourage fun, friendly conversation.  The Sandbar aims to provide a relaxing atmosphere with reasonable priced food and cocktails with a kick (Derek made Angela an amazing Espresso Martini!). They even run a $5 lunch special throughout the work week.

Additions such as the grassy area out front (perfect for people watching in the always entertaining New Hope) and the Lobster Zone arcade game create a light-hearted vibe, which was perfect for our mid-week dinner. I'll definitely be back to try some of their other specials-, including Tuesday Taco Night, Fiesta Fridays, Sunday Latin Nights!
