Town & Country Theater's 2011 season is opening with a bang (or should I say a bite!) with a brilliant performance of the classic show, Little Shop of Horrors. A small, extremely talented group of actors tackled the Broadway favorite about a down-and-out floral assistant who becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood.  With beautiful harmonies, impressive character portrayals, and lots of laughs, Little Shop is community theater at it's best.

Housed in a 240 year old restored barn off of York Road in Buckingham, Town & Country Theater has flourished since the end of World War II, when it was constructed as a loving home for community theater. The theater's unique construction- a small stage surrounded by seats on either side- allows audiences to become easily absorbed in the performance. It's high-tech lighting and sound system paired with an OUTSTANDING set design for Little Shop had me feeling like I was in New York City rather than a small suburban theater.

Just like it's encompassing design, the spirit of Town & Country Theater welcomes the soul. You can feel the warmth and passion for the arts as soon as you walk in the door.  John Zimmerman, president of Town & Country Players, proudly shared with theater patrons that through a mix of smart business sense and talented artists, the theater is completely self-sustainable, funding their performances solely through ticket sales. However, as Town & Country Players look to undertake some large-scale renovations in the near future, such as remodeling the lobby and adding a proper parking lot (currently patrons park on the grass), they are asking community members for help.  For those who have a special place in their heart for the arts, you can help Town & Country Players by donating.
