The talented Unik Cakes baking team, lead by Masha Lipkovsky, creates edible art, using fresh, natural, & delicious products to create extraordinary and unique designs. From whimsical cakes like the Alice in Wonderland creation pictured above to elegant & original wedding cake designs to incredibly detailed desserts imitating real-life objects, it's easy to get lost looking at Unik Cake's stunning portfolio of cakes.

Baking has always been part of the family tradition for Masha Lipkovsky. As a child, she savored the time helping her grandmother cook pies, honey cakes, sour-cream sponge cakes, and traditional Jewish-style cherry and apple strudels. As she grew older, her aspirations for baking grew from magazines, TV shows, and local bakery displays. Inspired, she decided to take a few decorating classes and from then on, all family occasions included a decorated cake by Masha. Soon, family members’ excitement grew onto friends and then soon friends of those friends were looking to buy her creations. People couldn't get enough of Masha's cakes!

In 2011, the idea of Unik Cakes was born – unique with a “K”. Masha knew that in order to take her baking from a hobby to a career she would need to educate herself and become an expert in the field of specialty baking. She immersed herself in books, magazines, and the internet until baking became part of her everyday life.

But she didn't stop there. Masha also immersed herself in the Art Institute of Philadelphia's Baking and Pastry program. While there, she further advanced her skills in not only baking but in getting real world experience by interning at Pink Cake Box, a bakery owned by a renowned pastry chef, Anne Heap. Pink Cake Box is an award winning bakery that has been featured on national television, on Food Network and TLC, various magazines, as well as serving celebrities.french-macarons

Fueled by passion, Masha graduated from the Art Institute of Philadelphia at the top of her class, named to the Dean’s List and recognized for an outstanding portfolio during her time there as a student.

During her time at the Art Institute, Unik Cakes continued to grow and the demand for her cakes and desserts was ever increasing. The demand was only fueled when in 2013, Unik Cakes was named the top 5 finalist by the Philly Hot List in the ‘best cakes’ category.

Close to Masha’s graduation from Art Institute, she had a chance to participate in the in the Philadelphia’s annual Let Them Eat Cake! competition and took first place in the Best Student category for her Hunger Games-themed entry (pictured below). The cake was inspired by the dress Katniss Everdeen wore in the Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Then, for a second year in the row in 2014, Unik Cakes was named the top finalist by the Philly Hot List in the ‘best wedding cakes’ category, taking 4th place.
