You can’t miss it. The bright blue sign of Ventresca Ltd.’s store front and the handsomely dressed mannequins in the windows draw shoppers to the formal wear and men’s store that Frank Ventresca opened 33 years ago. Ventresca Ltd. is the Delaware Valley’s go-to place for menswear including business apparel, custom made clothing, sports and outerwear, accessories, and footwear. In addition, Ventresca Ltd. has offered wedding attire rental since the beginning. But Ventresca Ltd. is quick to say that a lot has changed in 33 years.
“Fashion is always changing,” Frank explains. “We have been successful at adapting our business to those changes. That is why we are still in business and successful.” One of the most interesting changes of late has been a shift away from tuxedos. More grooms are choosing to rent or buy suits for the big day.
“In our store, we are seeing about a 50/50 split, tuxedos to suits,” reports Ventresca. “It used to be that only people having a beach or afternoon wedding rented suits, but now you can see them at all types of weddings.” He also attributes the rise in popularity of destination weddings as a factor in the shift in what grooms are looking for.
And if that groom chooses Ventresca Ltd., chances are he is going to find what he is looking for, no matter what kind of attire he is searching for. “Modern consumers sometimes confuse professional with expensive,” admits Ventresca. “Here at our shop, we want people to know that we offer just as many styles if not more than the big box or chain stores, and we offer competitive prices as well as the best, most professional customer service you’ll find.” The tuxedo rentals at Ventresca Ltd. start at $79.
There are other benefits to looking to Ventresca Ltd. to serve a groom and his entourage’s wedding day needs: the personal attention and service that each customer receives, which has had a hand in garnering the store national fame.
The store’s entire inventory is housed at their location, and they have a staff of career tailors trained in Europe to assist each customer to the fullest. Alterations can be made at any time during the process. Because the inventory is on the premises, the staff can swap out a size or accessory up until the day of the wedding. They offer discounts that are industry standards, like a free tuxedo or suit rental for the groom.
While Ventresca Ltd. goes above and beyond to help a groom on his special day, the store is also a major player in the community. The store is staffed with fulltime personnel. “This is not just a job to them, but a career,” says Ventresca. They live in the community and spend their money here. Ventresca urges people to shop local, supporting the independent establishments in the area, and does so himself. “I know firsthand what that is about.”
