Yoga is one of the many types of group exercise classes that the Newtown Athletic Club offers. Twice a year, the Mind/Body program, which includes all Pilates and Yoga classes that the NAC offers, holds an all day winter or summer solstice celebration.

Winter solstice is the shortest day of the year and is celebrated by many cultures because it marks the shortest day and longest night of the year. Yoga studios everywhere gather to welcome back the light and set high intentions for the New Year, typically with 108 sun salutations.

This year is no different. On December 21st, the Newtown Athletic Club will hold 7 hours of Yoga from 7:30am-3pm. Classes include Ashtanga, Pranayama, Yoga with Weights,  Power Flow, Yoga Nidra, Yin, and Meditation. All classes are available to beginners and advanced. This event is free for NAC members and just $10 for guests. Guests must live within a 10 mile radius of the NAC and must be at least 24 years of age. Class schedule can be found online here.

Schedule:

7:15-9:15am Ashtanga with Monica
