A Woman’s Place (AWP), Bucks County’s domestic violence agency for over 40 years, is extremely excited to welcome new Executive Director Tammy Oliver to lead the organization. Ms. Oliver joins the ranks of some of Bucks County’s most dynamic and bold leaders who have lead AWP over the years. Though she has big shoes to fill, Tammy is up to the challenge, bringing to AWP 30 years of experience in public service, including 23 years with Philadelphia-based domestic violence agency Women Against Abuse, and most recently with JEVS Human Services.

Being selected for such an important role in the community is no small feat; Ms. Oliver rose through a rigorous interview process conducted by a committee of staff and volunteers. The committee reviewed over 170 qualified candidates from Bucks County and beyond before eventually being selected by AWP’s Board of Directors.

“We had so many extremely talented and wonderful candidates to choose from,” said AWP Managing Attorney and Director of Legal Services Lauren Bucksner, who served on the search committee. “Though it was a difficult choice, we’re confident we made the right selection and we’re very excited to work with Tammy.”

Ms. Oliver is also excited to begin her new role, saying “I am honored to join an organization with such a rich and proud history of serving this community,” said Ms. Oliver. “I can’t wait to get started.”

Ms. Oliver stepped into her new position on Monday September 25th, just in time for the upcoming AWP events to celebrate National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

AWP will host it's annual Domestic Violence Awareness Candelight Vigil on Tuesday, October 3 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. The event will take place at Bristol's Riverside Theatre. Please join us for a meaningful evening to mourn those we've lost, celebrate the survivors, connect with each other and, honor 41 years of community support for AWP's vision of a society where all individuals are safe in their relationships and can flourish. This is a free event and all are welcome. AWP invites the entire community to participate and to welcome Ms. Oliver.
