Evan JonigkeitEvan Jonigkeit grew up in Langhorne, is a graduate of Neshaminy High School and Temple University, and a well-known Philadelphia stage actor.  After playing many great roles in our area he went on to star in two shows on Broadway and is now gracing the silver screen as a super villain in the newest X-Men movie.  We caught up with Evan about his success, the movie, and his love of Bucks County.

BH: Congratulations on the big role in X-men: Days of Future Past. You play a younger version of the character Toad, played in past movies by Ray Park, what was your experience like?

EJ: It was an incredible whirlwind. To be a part of such an incredible franchise is in and of itself amazing, but to now watch the positive reaction to the film itself is a blessing.

BH: You are best known here at home for your amazing work in theatre but playing an iconic character like toad in X-men: Days of Future Past is incredible. Do you have a preference of theatre or film work?

EJ: Theatre and film are such different animals in terms of how the production comes together, they are hard to compare. Theatre will always be my home, it is where I fell in love with storytelling.

BH: You have played so many roles in the Philly theatre scene, have any of them helped prepare you to play Toad?

EJ: Well I’m not sure anything can really prepare you for being a super villain. However, I guess all of the people I worked with in Philadelphia taught me how to be a professional and prepared and ready to do whatever the role takes, so in that way I suppose so.

BH: As a Neshaminy high school grad is there anywhere in Bucks county that you can't wait to visit when you come home?

EJ: I have so many fond memories for Bucks County. Playing a round of golf at Middletown with old friends or getting a bite to eat at Great American Diner, but mostly being with family is the best reason to come home.

BH: We here in Bucks County are so happy for your success is there anything you can share about where we will see you next?

EJ: I have a few things on the horizon, but nothing is a sure thing as yet. I have taken a little step back from acting and have devoted a great deal of my efforts to writing. Some of which I am hoping will go into production in early 2015.
