Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer, but it's also a time to recognize and remember those who have died performing their military duties serving in the United States Armed Forces. Bucks County will be honoring our veterans throughout the weekend with events, parades and workouts. Find all of Bucks County's Memorial Day happenings right here. NAC Escape Resort Friday Night Live Season Opener: Big Country

When: Friday, May 26, 6-10 pm
Where: 120 Pheasant Run, Newtown, PA

The NAC's live music summer series, Friday Night Live returns on Friday, May 26th. There will be a poolside live performance from the band Big Country. The event is open to the community after 6 pm with access to the resort bar and dining areas. Live music is every Friday night 6-10 pm with happy hour from 4-6 pm. Childcare is available.

Memorial Day Celebration at Sesame Place

When: May 27-28, 9 am
Where: 100 Sesame Road, Langhorne, PA

Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend at Sesame Place. The fireworks show is on Sunday at 9 pm. There will be photo opportunities with Elmo dressed in festive red, white and blue all weekend. Rock out with Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster, and Count von Count as their music fills the air and the sky is covered with colors.

Memorial Day Ceremony | Washington Crossing Park

When: Sunday, May 28, 1-3 pm
Where: 1112 River Road, Washington Crossing, PA

Washington Crossing Historic Park is holding its annual Memorial Day ceremony on Sunday, May 28th at the gravesite of the Continental soldiers located near the Thompson-Neely House. The observation will include a colonial color guard, fife and drum music, Revolutionary War reenactors, veterans, and other honored guests. After the dedication, American flags will be placed on the graves. The gravesite marks the resting place of soldiers who died during the Continental army's December 1776 encampment in Bucks County.

Live Music at Steam Pub

Music and Food Truck at Bishop Estate Vineyard & Winery

31st Annual Lake Lenape Jamboree

When: Sunday, May 28th, 12 pm – 3 pm
Where: Lake Lenape Pavilion, 555 Constitution Ave, Perkasie, PA

The 31st Annual Lake Lenape Jamboree is taking place Memorial Day Weekend. There will be 25 top awards, trophy raffles, vendors, food and a DJ. Registration is from 9 am – 12 pm and the show is from 12-3 pm. All makes and models are welcome.

Shady Brook Summer unWINEd Concert

Kick off Memorial Day weekend at Shady Brook's Summer unWINEd Concert Series. Enjoy an evening of live music, tasty food, spirited drinks and lots of activities for the kids. Memorial Day at Tabora Farms

Newtown Historic Association's Memorial Day Tribute to Local Veterans

When: May 29, 10 am – 2 pm
Where: 100 Mercer Street, Newtown, PA

Come and see over 100 photos of Newtown soldiers and 300 WWII shoulder patches from our local veterans. There will be letters written by the soldiers themselves on display, allowing us to experience moments both in private and in battle in their own words.

Doylestown 5K Race

When: May 27, 9 am
Where: 63 E State Street, Doylestown, PA

The Doylestown 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Run are a Memorial Day Weekend tradition in Doylestown, PA. Drawing over 750+ runners and a huge crowd of supporters, it is the largest race in the Bucks 5K series. Register online.

3rd Annual Memorial Day Chili Cook-off

When: May 28, 1-3 pm
Where:  Newtown Brewing Company, 103 Penns Trail, Newtown, PA

Bring your best Chili in a slow cooker, hot and ready to serve. You can do meatless, spicy, white, or surprise ingredient. Guests will be able to try all the Chili entries and vote on the best with plenty of prizes for the winner. Send an email to if you would like to compete in the contest.

Memorial Day Weekend at Chaddsford Winery Tasting Room

When: May 27 – May 29, 12 pm – 7 pm
Where: 5860 Lower York Road, Lahaska, PA

It's the unofficial start of summer and the Tasting Room in Lahaska will be celebrating all weekend long with the release of Sangria Spritzer and trivia. There will be complimentary samples for the first 100 guests. Other refreshing options being offered are a Sparkling Blueberry Lemonade, Pina Colada Slushie and seasonal flights. As you sip on your drink, try your hand at some holiday trivia.

Memorial Main Street Mile

Celebrate Memorial Day with a chip-timed 1-mile race on Main Street in historic Yardley Borough to benefit American Legion Post 317. The Memorial Main Street Mile race will begin at Wells Fargo Bank (225 South Main Street) and finishes at the Yardley Meeting House (25 North Main Street).

Every year on Memorial Day, many CrossFit gyms, military members, veterans, and civilians participate in the MURPH workout to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for this great nation. The workout consists of a mile run, followed by 300 air squats, 200 push-ups, 100 pull-ups, and ends with another mile run.

Newtown Athletic Club

Open to members and non-members with a $20 donation fee, honor the fallen heroes with a Murph workout. There will be plenty of scaling/modification options to make this workout for any and all fitness levels. All proceeds will go to the Lt. Michael Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation.

Crossfit Summa

There will be 2 heats on Saturday morning at 8 am and 9:30 am. This is a hero workout done in honor of Navy Lt. Michael Murphy who died in Afghanistan. The full version is a 1 mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push ups, 300 air squats, followed by another 1 mile run. If this sounds a lot, there are modification options.
