Memorial Day Weekend is known as the unofficial start to summer, but more importantly it is a day to remember and honor our fallen heroes who have served in the United States armed forces dedicating their lives to our country, its citizens, and our democracy. This guide will help you plan a weekend of meaningful ceremonies, festive activities, and local events that recognize U.S. military personnel and their courageous commitment to our freedoms.

Weekend Events

Monday, May 26th || 8am
Main Street, Yardley, PA

Join Yardley Borough Parks and Recreation Board for the Memorial Main Street Mile on Monday, May 26 at 8 am. The 1-mile chip-timed run benefits the American Legion Post 317, making it the perfect way to celebrate the day dedicated to those who have lost their lives serving in the United States Armed Forces. Bring along your children for the kid’s mile race starting at 7:45 am. Strollers and walkers are welcome, and there will be a brief award ceremony for qualifying racers at the finish line!

Sunday, May 25 || 8am
M 1112 River Road, Washington Crossing, PA

Honor the troops and fallen heroes on Sunday, May 25 at Washington Crossing Historic Park for their annual Memorial Day Ceremony at 1 pm. The observation will be held at the gravesite of Continental soldiers including a colonial color guard, veterans, Revolutionary War reenactors, fife and drum music, and other honored guests. This year’s esteemed narrator is Col. Jeffrey R. McGeary–Chief of Military Programs at the US Army Center of Military History, Fort McNair, and Washington, D.C. He is  Chief of Military Programs at the U.S. Army Center of Military History at Fort McNair in Washington, D.C. where he was recently promoted to colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. Col. McGreary’s military honors include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, NATO Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. He has deployed to Germany, Kuwait, and Afghanistan.

May 25 & 26
100 Sesame Rd, Langhorne, PA

Bring the kids to Sesame Place for a Memorial Day Celebration with fireworks, sweet treats, and your favorite Sesame Street music on May 24 and 25. Book the Sweet Treat experience and dine and take photos with Abby, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Count Von Count, and more of your favorite furry friends dressed in red, white, and blue! Reserve a viewing area for a firework show that will light up the sky! Be sure to book tickets online and be prepared for a night of wonderful festivities for the kids.

May 24 & 25
136 N Main St, Sellersville, PA

Reserve a table before they're all booked up at the Washington House for their Memorial Day Weekend specials on Saturday and Sunday. Enjoy delicious seasonal dishes including summer classics like the lobster roll. Pair it with a delicious summer cocktail and enjoy warm weather to kick off the start of summer!

Sunday, May 25
New Galena Rd, Chalfont on the Northwest Side of Lake Galena

Spend the day at the completely volunteer run, annual, Memorial Day Picnic at Peace Valley park for scenic views, hamburgers, hot dogs, potluck sides, games, a piñata for the kids, and two speakers! Potluck contributors can bring sides, salads, and desserts at 12 pm. Lunch and activities will begin at 12:30 pm, and the speakers will start at 3 pm.

Memorial Day Parades

Saturday, May 24th
The corner of 7th Street & Market Street, Perkasie PA

Join Perkasie Borough and the American Legion for a parade and memorial service on Saturday, May 24th. The parade will commence at the corner of 7th Street & Market Street at 9 am, continuing along town center streets, and ending at the Memorial Garden at Menlo Park. The parade will be led by The Sellersville Nase-Kraft Legion Post 255 Color Guard, accompanied by local veterans, local fire companies and first responders, scouts and local civic organizations, and so much more. The outdoor memorial service, honoring fallen heroes and recognizing veterans in attendance, will conclude the parade at approximately 10:15 am including a rifle salute, Taps, and patriotic music. 

Saturday, May 24th
375 W Court St, Doylestown, PA 

The Doylestown Memorial Day parade is celebrating its 157th anniversary this year, making it one of the oldest Memorial Day parades in the United States. On Saturday May 24th, grab your friends and family to honor the Veterans who have made immense sacrifices to defend our nation, democratic ideals, and freedom! The parade will commence at Central Bucks West High School at 10am following a flag raising ceremony at War Memorial Field that begins at 9am. The parade will continue east on West Court Street, east on West State Street, then north on Main Street, and ends east on East Court Street at Doylestown Cemetery. The event will conclude with a 30-minute memorial service, where the United Veterans of Doylestown will lay wreaths in honor of America’s fallen heroes. 

May 26, 10 am
401 Gibson Avenue, Warminster, PA

Join Warminster VFW Post 6493 and Warminster Township for their annual Memorial Day ceremony and parade on Memorial Day– May 26. Bring your family and friends and join your community in honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. The ceremony will begin at 10 am followed by the parade at 11 am. The ceremony will take place at the Warminster Township Building. The parade will begin at the Administration Building and continue down Henry Avenue, to York Road, to Street Road, and conclude at the VFW Post 6493 on Louis Drive where spectators can gather for refreshments!
