Earth Day, first celebrated on April 22, 1970, is now in its 21st year and is
celebrated by 1 billion people in 193 countries. Locally, it’s a time for a spring
clean up of parks, streams and the great outdoors. It’s a time to reconnect with
nature and maybe learn a thing or two. Here’s a list of some of the Earth Day
celebrations in Bucks County this year.

Earth Day at Snipes Farm

Where: 890 W. Bridge Street, Morrisville
When: Saturday, April 24, 9 a.m.- noon
Pack a picnic lunch and spend the day planting potatoes, prepping gardens or
tidying the orchard. Learn the latest about farming at Snipes Farm and Education
Center, a 7th generation family farm. On Sunday at 2 p.m., join the opening of
the farm’s new greenhouses, mobile chicken coup and veggie cooler. Farm tours
will be offered. Meet at the big red barn.

Earthship Tour

Where: Silver Lake Nature Center,1006 Bath Road, Bristol
When: Saturday, April 24 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m.
Learn about sustainable structures, then take a free guided walking tour of the
nature centers’ trails, a finalist for Bucks Happening 2021 Best Park.

Thursday Night Nature

Where: Bowman’s Wildflower Preserve,1635 River Road, New Hope
When: Thursday, April 22, 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Join this Bucks Happening List Winner for Best Nature Spot for a Zoom session
on selecting deer-resistant native plants.

Earth Day 2021: Be An Advocate for the Planet

Where: Delaware Valley University, 700 E Butler Ave, Doylestown
When: Thursday, April 22 6-8 p.m.
Zoom panel discussion on health initiatives for the planet.

Croydon Woods Nature Preserve Clean Up

When: Saturday, April 24 10 a..m. – 1 p.m.
Where: Croydon Woods Nature Preserve, River Road, Croydon
Clean-up effort at the preserve. Masks are required. Sponsored by the Heritage Conservancy.

Earth Day Clean Up Hike

Earth Day Clean Up Hike

Where: Nockamixon State Park, 1542 Mountain View Dr., Quakertown
When: Thursday April 22 10 a.m. – noon Clean up of the bike trail followed by conversation about the environment. Meet at the Marine Visitors Center.

Earth Day Park Clean Up

Where: Middletown Township Parks
When: Saturday, April 24, 9 a.m.- 11 a.m.
Clean up will be held at various township parks. Prizes for most trash collected.
