Gobble Gobble!  Thanksgiving officially marks the start of the holiday season. Between running around to getting all your preparations done for the big meal and finding out who is going where, we thought we could give you the inside scoop on the food, fun, and how to give back for Thanksgiving. Bucks County is no stranger to the tradition and there is plenty of going on.

Giving Back

Habitat for Humanity 5k
Time to work off a bit of that Thanksgiving excess ands help a great cause as Quakertown Rotary and Quakertown United Methodist Church present the 11th Annual Habitat for Humanity 5K. The rolling course on lightly traveled roads is challenging for experienced runners and also a good experience for novice racers as well. There's also a 3/4 mile Kids' Run for real beginners. Indoor registration and bathrooms, a well stocked post-race buffet featuring pizza, soup and wings, deep awards and a fun raffle make this a great family event.

Holiday Drives
Join the Central Bucks County YMCA to provided a Thanksgiving meal to a local family needing assistance this season. Choose a name from our ‘Wreath of Familiies' between November 2nd through 16th and drop off food items on November 17. From November 19th through 30th, choose a child, adult or family from our ‘Giving Tree' and purchase holiday gifts. Wish lists and drop-off information is provided at the Welcome Center.

Bucks County Housing Group Thanksgiving Food Drive
We’ve  started our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Last year thanks to your overwhelming support we were able to help 500 families with a Thanksgiving meal. We’re confident this year we can do the same. You can help in several ways such as donating a complete holiday food basket with all the items the family will need for their meal or donating canned goods for us to create holiday baskets.

Don't forget all the other local food banks who could use donations this year. You could also find an organization that is near and dear to your heart and volunteer some of your time to help out!
