A view of the Talking Teacup from Skyline Drive.

Bright sunflowers, fresh fruits, ripe vegetables and the smell of scones welcome you to The Talking Teacup. I could barely wait to get inside to pick out my tea and dive into the delicious tea sandwiches. As an avid tea-goer I find myself craving the tastes of The Talking Teacup. Located conveniently on the corner of Butler Avenue and Skyline Drive in Chalfont, this is one of my favorites.

The Talking Teacup is located in a 250 year old farm house, which was part of an original land grant made to William Penn by Chief Tamany of the Delaware Nation in 1683. After all the owners and changes the house went through it finally was purchased by Eric and Kathy Heck in 2003. The Talking Teacup opened its doors for business on November 1st, 2003 and has been steeping tea ever since!

You can buy any of the teas on the menu in the gift shop!

As you walk into the gift shop you are always greeted by Kathy or one of her employees.  Before sitting down for tea, you'll have to resist the temptations of the gift shop.  Depending on the day you have a choice of breakfast or lunch and of course your choice of tea. Breakfast is served Thursday through Saturday from 9am-11am, and lunch is served Tuesday through Sunday 11am-4pm.

Every visit to The Talking Teacup exceeds my expectations and this past Sunday was no different. It was exceptionally busy as the entire tea room was full. My favorite selection is the Luncheon Tea which includes scones, tea sandwiches, desserts and a pot of tea. As many times as I have been to The Talking Teacup, it's never an easy decision about which tea to choose. From the classic earl greys to the dessert teas the tea menu, the Talking Tea Cup has endless choices! I decided to try the organic raspberry tea for the first time and was not disappointed. Even just the delicious smell of the warm tea can fulfill a craving.

While waiting for the scones and sandwiches to come out, I enjoyed the sights of the beautiful garden overflowing with freshly grown fruits and vegetables that are used daily. You have the option of dining in the main tea room, the sun porch, or the garden patio, all of which provide a great experience for intimately sipping a cup of tea with friends. Last week, I enjoyed the apricot and almond scones, which are accompanied with preserves and devonshire cream (it's even better than butter!). I couldn't get enough of the warm scones, with their wonderful aroma.

Enjoy the tea garden patio!

Next up were the tea sandwiches, seven of them! Believe me, you will never leave this place hungry. I am always amazed with the cute shapes and variety of sandwiches. I had orange chicken salad, roasted red pepper spread, cucumber with dill, egg salad, spinach spread,  pesto spread and ham with cinnamon all on different breads! What more could you ask for? Each bite got better and better.

I always fill myself up on plenty of tea, scones, and sandwiches that I  forget about the sweets!  Luckily for me, they are great to save for a late night snack. The mouthwatering desserts included lime filled cake, fudge brownie, sugar tea cookie and a small fruit salad. I couldn't pass up the fruit after seeing it being freshly picked from the garden.

Although I find myself never wanting the lunch to end, I am comforted by the idea of browsing the gift shop. They stock a variety of different teas for customers to enjoy at home & just about everything dealing with tea including cute tea cups. If you are looking for a different kind of breakfast or lunch make sure to visit The Talking Teacup. Pinkies up!
