Happening Artist: Painter Cameo Lugas

“I learned how to draw by pausing scenes in Disney movies,” Says Cameo Lugas, Bucks County native and local artist. Now a resident of Bensalem, she was born and raised in Oakford, and attended Neshaminy High School where she says her love of art was further ignited, “Once I got to high school, I had some of the most influential art teachers in the world! I am incredibly grateful for them and don't think I'd be so passionate about my work with out their inspiration.”

In addition to the great teachers she had in the Bucks County school district she appreciates the vibe of the county from an artists perspective, “The area in general is beautiful to me. The season changes, scenery, eclectic little places such as New Hope, and Peddler's Village… Bucks County is just so full of character!” Not to mention a great place for art, “Art is all around us, Bucks County does a great job of showcasing that and keeping the arts alive in our area.”

So if you are ready to check out her art for you can visit her at the Artist's Cellar in Yardley where is is a painting instructor, “I get to paint, talk, and help people find their inner Picasso!” As all of the resident artists at the Artist's Cellar, Cameo can help design a piece for you to create for a private party or you can choose one of hers or her co-artist's designs. If you want an original, though, it might take some convincing, “Surprisingly, I've only sold one piece of my art because I tend to become emotionally attached to my work. I'm starting to see things differently though, and would be flattered to have someone want my art in their home. I was recently asked to donate a work of art to be auctioned at an event in Georgia, benefitting/raising awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. I was thrilled to contribute!”

Along with a love for painting Cameo enjoys being crafty and working on DIY projects with her equally creative husband. They were recently married and she created her own wedding invitations as a part of a budding business in invitation and flyer design. Needless to say when it comes to creativity, Cameo is your girl!
