While Memorial Day is often looked at as the unofficial start to summer fun, the holiday is truly about honoring our fallen soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice. Communities throughout Bucks County will have music, floats, and waving flags honoring America’s soldiers this Memorial Day Weekend.

Memorial Day Ceremonies

Hulmeville Memorial Day Ceremony

When: Saturday, May 25 at 2pm
Where: Memorial Park, Bellevue Ave. and Neshaminy St., Hulmeville PA

Ceremony includes live short speeches and live music. Sponsored by the Hulmeville Historical Society.

Warrington Township’s Memorial Day Ceremony

When: Saturday, May 25 at 11 a.m.
Where: Igoe Porter Wellings Memorial Field, 3095 Bradley Rd, Chalfont

Annual ceremony is sponsored by Warrington Township and the Veteran affairs council.

Washington Crossing Memorial Day Observance

When: Sunday, May 26 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Washington Crossing Historic Park
This event will be held at the gravesite of the Continental Soldiers. The observation will include Revolutionary War re-enactors, a colonial color guard, Old Barracks Fife and Drum corps, and the Guardians of the National Cemetery Firing Party, Daughters of the American Revolution, veterans, Boy Scouts, and other honored guests. During the event, American flags will be placed on the graves.

Parades

Bensalem Memorial Day Parade

When: Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m.
Where: Starts at Woodbine Road, celebration at 1158 Bristol Pike, Bensalem

The parade starts at 10 a.m. at Woodbine Road. The parade will stop at VFW Post 9198, 1158 Bristol Pike, along the way for a service before continuing to Pawlowski Park, where another service will take place. A celebration, at VFW Post 9198, will commence after the parade. The celebration is open to the public and will include food, refreshments and live music performed by Dock 6 until 4 p.m.

Doylestown Memorial Day Parade

When: Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m.
Where: From CB West traveling east on West Court Street, east on West State Street, north on North Main Street to the Doylestown Cemetery, culminating in a 30-minute memorial service

The Doylestown Memorial Day Parade celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2018, making it the oldest Memorial Day Parade in the United States. Last year, approximately 1,700 people participated in the parade, representing over 100 separate units, including 8 local school bands.

Langhorne American Legion Post 148 Memorial Day Parade

When: Monday, May 27 at 9 a.m.
Where: American Legion Post #148, 115 W. Richardson Avenue, Langhorne

This year is the 100th American Legion Post 148 Memorial Day Parade. This year’s guest speaker is Kevin McCloskey, a double amputee from the Afghanistan War. The program begins at 9 a.m., followed by the parade. There will be 6 bands participating in the parade, a flat honoring all service men and women from WWI to the present conflicts, and bike decorating contests for kids. At the beginning of the parade, the American Legion will be collection new socks, underwear and tee shirts for the veteran’s groups.

Newtown Memorial Day Parade

When: Monday, May 27 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Where: The Newtown Commons West building on Newtown-Yardley Road. Ceremony will follow after parade.

Penndel-Hulmeville Memorial Day Parade

When: Saturday, May 25 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Where: From Ford Ave in Hulmeville, follows Main Street, Hulme Street, and Bellevue Ave continues into Penndel to Crescent Street, Hulmeville Ave to the Penndel Recreation Field.

Sellersville Memorial Day Parade

When: Saturday, May 25 at 10 a.m.
Where: The parade route begins on South Main Street at East Grandview Avenue and proceeds to North Main Street & Temple Avenue; from Temple Avenue to the Lake Lenape Park entrance located off Walnut Street. Immediately following the parade there will be a ceremony at the War Memorial.

Warminster Memorial Day Ceremony & Parade

When: Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. ceremony parade following directly after
Where: Warminster Township Building, 401 Gibson Ave, Warminster

Ceremony begins at 10 a.m. with a parade beginning at 11 a.m. Parate starts at the Township Building, east on Henry Avenue, north on York Road, east on Street Road, north on Louis Drive. Parade ends at the VFW Post on Louis Drive.

Hellerick's Farm Aerial Adventure

When: Memorial Day Weekend hours are Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Reservations encouraged.
Where: 5500 N. Easton Road, Doylestown

When: Sunday, May 26 following the 9 p.m. parade
Where: Sesame Place, 100 Sesame Road, Langhorne, PA

Rock out with Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster and Count von Count, as their music fills the air and the sky is filled with fireworks! Fireworks will begin immediately after the 9 p.m. Neighborhood Street Party Night Parade on Sunday.

Memorial Day at Parx Racing

When: Monday, May 27 at 11 a.m.
Where: 3001 Street Road, Bensalem

Celebrate Memorial Day trackside in the family-friendly Picnic Grove! Gates open at 11 a.m., first live post at 12:55 p.m. Pack your cooler and the kids, and enjoy the races. Kids will enjoy Free Family Fun from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. featuring a moon bounce, face painting and airbrush tattoos. There will also be love music by The Harry Walther Band from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Memorial Day Sausage Pancake Breakfast

When: Monday, May 27 from 7 a.m. to Noon
Where: Doylestown Lodge 245, 55 East State Street, Doylestown, PA

Come enjoy a hearty breakfast! $7 a person, $3 ages 10-6, Under 6 eat FREE. TAKE-OUT IS AVAILABLE!! Open Rain or Shine. Sponsored by the Doylestown Lodge.

Community Pancake Breakfast at Salem

When Monday, May 27 from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Where: Salem United Church of Christ, Fellowship Hall, 186 E. Court Street, Doylestown, PA

Eat in, or take out! On the parade route! Tickets at the door. Sponsored by the Salem United Church of Christ.

Memorial Day Weekend Salute to the Troops

When: May 25 – May 26
Where: Peppermint Farm, 2613 Hilltown Pike, Perkasie

The Bucks County Designer House & Gardens, sponsored by the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown and Doylestown Hospital, announces free House Tours for military members, veterans and Gold Star Family members and half-price entry for one companion on Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-May 26. Present a military or Veterans ID to gain free entry for the military member (a $30 value) and half price entry ($15) for one companion.
